I said during last football season that I think Pryor would be a better pro than Newton. I still stand by that. I think TP was right when he made the comment about playing in Michigan's or Auburn's system he would dominate. Because those two schools really show cased their quarterbacks' skills but they don't necessarily run a NFL style offense. Pryor ran an offense similar to the pros since his freshman year. Instead of running options all the time, he really took the time to learn how to be a NFL quarterback. I think he will shock some people at the next level.

It's comical to me that people think Pryor ran a pro style offense. Just because they line up with a TE doesn't mean anything. Tressel might have had some complex formations, but if the 1st option wasn't open, Pryor really struggled to go to his 2nd and 3rd option. A QB that drops back, stands in the pocket, and scans a defense runs a pro offense. Pryor didn't do that.

It's too easy to say they ran a pro offense because of their formations. A QB in a pro offense has to be able to scan the whole field because defenses are so complex and players are so fast. Pryor very rarely did that, therefore I don't think he is more prepared than some of the other guys that run gimmicky offenses.

He may be better prepared in terms of terminology but I think he gets way too much credit for being better prepared because OSU used a FB and TE at times.

Because he may not have "run" the offense as it was intended because of his ability to run doesn't detract from his knowledge of how it is supposed to work. Too often he was unable to pull the trigger on check downs...does that mean he didn't know he was supposed to? Your usual protocol is blinding the obvious.

I actually agree with dynasty on this one. Pryor is as dumb as a box of rocks. And newton isn't much smarter

Of course you do...

The offense at Auburn was not anything remotely similar to a pro style offense. Hell, Newton said himself they dumbed it down and just did what worked best for them, I don't blame them obviously it was what ultimately won them the title.

No it was intended to display Pryors talents. Tressel did an excellent job in structuring the offense. Pryor rarely dropped back 7 steps scanned the field and found a receiver. It was a quick 3 step drop or rolling of the pocket. He really simplified the offense for Pryor, even though there were some pro style alignments.

Is Pryor better prepared than Newton? Yea he probably is. But he gets too much credit the style of offense OSU ran.

You are contradicting yourself. You are saying the offense Pryor ran does not make him more prepared than Newton, yet that is why everybody thinks he is more prepared than Newton. So why do you think Pryor is more prepared than Newton?

I think all dynasty is trying to say is that Pryor has an edge in knowing terminology better, but he isn't necessarily physically or otherwise mentally more prepared. He can call plays but can he process the information and make the correct reads based on what he sees in an NFL offense against an NFL defense? Both of them have a lot of work to do with that.

I get what you are saying. He ran the pro style offense, but not REALLY the pro style offense. That comment is really a reach. Bottom line is he knows the terminology and the offense better than Cam, so he clearly has an edge.

Karen, nobody is saying Pryor has some advantage physically or mentally(unless you want to count the knowledge of the offense) over Cam. We all know Pryor is known to make some dumb plays. Id say Cam has a physical advantage and mental advantage over Pryor. From what i watched of him he seemed pretty clutch and made the right decision for the most part. However, he is as dumb as a box of rocks, which i think will cause him trouble.

The complexities of an NFL offense are light years beyond ANY college offense. The two knuckle-draggers being discussed here are in for one long rude awakening. Both will be mediocre at best IMO.

Well he did run a lot more plays under center than Newton or a lot of these qbs in the more gimmicky offenses. That alone is a plus for him...

Newton is more prepared because he made more money than Pryor in college. He already understands how to handle his finances. That's crucial for NFL success.
