Tow drivers typically bully and threaten people and constantly break the law when it comes to dropping cars though. It's ridiculous.
Also, they have to drop it for half the tow fee if you catch them before they leave the property, not just before they move out of the spot.

http://codes.ohio.gov/orc/4513.60If the owner or operator of a motor vehicle that has been ordered into storage pursuant to division (A)(1) of this section or of a vehicle that is being removed under authority of division (B)(2) of this section arrives after the motor vehicle or vehicle has been prepared for removal, but prior to its actual removal from the property, the owner or operator shall be given the opportunity to pay a fee of not more than one-half of the charge for the removal of motor vehicles under division (A)(1) of this section or of vehicles under division (B)(2) of this section, whichever is applicable, that normally is assessed by the person who has prepared the motor vehicle or vehicle for removal, in order to obtain release of the motor vehicle or vehicle. Upon payment of that fee, the motor vehicle or vehicle shall be released to the owner or operator, and upon its release, the owner or operator immediately shall move it so that:

It's funny, Shamrock is extremely helpful when you actually need help, but are probably the biggest thieves when it comes to parking enforcement.

Idk, I'm pretty hot-headed/stubborn about this kind of stuff, even to someone bigger than me. I can't imagine paying him. I guess I would have called the cops and let them sort it out.

I just read the entire ORC thing, and it seems as though the guy was breaking the law. Didn't have to cough up the $50.
Personally, I'd just have lied and said that I had permission from the property owner. More likely than not, the redneck wouldn't have a cell phone to check.

He was about that big...6'4'ish, pushing 300. But regardless, what the hell am I going to do? Hit him? Lol how would that get his truck moved? Then I'd be facing criminal charges. And the parking lot is a square, only way to get out of it is the way you came in...he was parked behind me, there was a cement wall in front of my car. I could not have gotten out if he didn't move his car.

You had two cars, right? The van and your car? Just go get yours and park it in front of his truck so HE can't move. Then he calls a buddy and they put their car in front of your car, so you call your buddy, and then it's just a cycle of cars blocking each other. That'll show 'um.

Yep, but I believe the max tow fee in Ohio is $90 or something like that.

Gotcha.
In that case, I wouldn't have hit him. I'd have tried to piss him off so that he'd hit me. I'd try to act like I hit something on the way down.
Then I'd call the cops.

Okay thanks i got it..the link LJ posted further explained that, I didn't see that post when I asked him to explain it for dummies.
It's not a big deal, obviously at the time I was pissed off, but being a week and a half ago I was just wondering what everyone else would have done...I had no idea about any of those laws at the time obviously; would have been fucking awesome if I did know them...the guy would have looked incredibly retarded.

I'm lucky enough to have never been towed. Columbus and Shamrock Towing has taught me to park responsibly.
