Buckeye West,my favorite place to visit,A bar that extended about 35 yds down the home sideline,a high spot in one endzone you always game planned to get a reciever on top the hill, cinders and rocks on the field, train tracks so close to the visitor stands you could prolly touch a train from the top bleacher horrible dressing rooms,a half inch pc. of plywood seperated visitors from home team in that dungeon of a locker room. But the place was electric as soon as you entered Adena great fans and some really good teams.

LOL Never been to Bwest but knew a kid that moved to Steubenville from Adena when I was a kid and Butchy would always talk about Adena .. Then we would all pile up in back of his dads pickup and head over to Harding stadium and watch the Big Red play ..but he always talked about Adena .. He was probably 9 and we were probably 10 or 11 at the time . In the 70's I never heard of Adena but later found out it was called Buckey West

You are talking about Adena "Stadium"...

Buckeye West was in Mt. Pleasant, football stadium was in Dillonvale

Sorry I thought it was at Adena, but they called it The Pit and I remember fans lining the street to the stadium with lots of derogatory but amusing signs.

Springfield... that was also a pretty good football atmosphere with plenty of good teams, esp. during the Matt Mottice era [coach].

I remember Stanton as having about the nicest stadium for a small school and enjoyed games at the facility, all fans sat on one side and I like those set ups.

Toronto was 10-0 in 1974 and was considered the best team in the state . They didnt make the playoffs at that time ..they still only had like 4 total tea,s in 3 classes make state ...Think of that ..Considering they had many more schools back then ,and then only 3 divisions AAA, AA, A. Look what has become of it now ..Way too many teams clogging it up

Only 4 in each division would be about rightif not 2

1978:

Toronto 2
Mingo 0

A mudbath. Only points were a punt snap over the punter's head and out of the endzone.
