Alrighty.

Why are all the scrimmages out in BFE this year?

You're right. I can always count on heresay from the IC and Steubenville guys. I'll likely get word from some of the guys on the team after the scrimmages too.

Very nice. Very very nice.

Is Union a quality team? Who would you compare them too around here?

I heard that yesterday was Union's 2nd day of practice, and that this was more like a practice instead of a scrimmage. I was told that Union only had helmets and shoulder pads and that obviously, there wasn't any tackling. Is this true?

There was tackling and they went the normal 10 plays O then D..... No clue if it was their second practice thats kinda bad if you only practice 2 days this late.

I heard that Columbiana backed out of the scrimmage this Saturday at Creek for fear of injuries. Apparently they don't have very many kids on the team and are afraid of losing some to injury before the season starts. Not sure if this is true, but that's what I heard.

I just asked my son and he said all he knows is they are scrimmaging Struthers and some other team.... he is Pumped to scrimmage Struthers. He is the Full back.... Its funny that Struthers Has to Travel to both Scrimmages and that there both in Jefferson County and less the 3 miles apart. I mean i knew Big Red would never leave there home to scrimmage anyone cause they dont leave home but 1 or 2 times a year... They get a contract to play someone that will agree to play at Big Red. And some teams will play both contract years at Big Red. but most times its a one year contract. that is why Big Red plays these team out of state. Nobody wants to always lay at Big red... But if i could get every game at home i would do it too. But man they are greedy!! lol....

Yes they do! They don't have much of a choice.. Ursuline is not going to just play both games at Steubenville! And i have to say it will be a battle. but i don't see a blow out by either side. that will be the game of the season!!! I'm not a Ursuline fan by a long shot. But i will be that week.

Yeah. I know PA starts a week after Ohio, but Union only having two practices under their belt could skew the 7-0 score a little bit.

Maybe exclipper just meant that it may have been Union's second day of hitting and practice in pads, not their second practice overall.

Don't want to cause trouble but I called a friend who coaches in PA and was told they can't have hitting scrimmages until the 20th. He told me to check the WPIAL website if I didn't believe him. He was correct. If fact their first day of practice is the 15th. I don't know what went on in Struthers yesterday but if they truly scrimmaged the Union coach has a lot of guts!

Also it was in Union not Struthers haha.....Not going to take anything from it anyways.... Union isn't a team you want to brag about beating up on.

Judging by the photos from the Hometown Journal, looks like the scrimmage was in Struthers. Union was NOT in full equipment, but Struthers was. Union wore shoulder pads & helmets, but had shorts on. Looks like the linemen from Union were using arm pads.
