password--you're spelling is usually pretty good ;) ...but it still surprises me that this article could be sent to print with a name (Terrelle) misspelled that has been printed thousands of times in the past week alone--just not very professional, IMO.

I assume you didn't read the thread discussing Jay Paterno's take on the situation?
and I assume you didn't read the article about the NCAA's survey that showed D1 athletes spend over 40 hrs. a week on sport related activities.

Just out of curiosity, do you know how many people work in the compliance office at OSU? Is it big?

The University spends a $1 million a year pushing NCAA paperwork. I think 9 people are employed....give or take.

Like Hits said, I think aroun nine or so. I would imagine after this whole fiasco the two positions budgeted might turn into more. One thing is for certain, after this whole fiasco the compliance department is going to be working double overtime to make sure every sports team will be clean as a whistle, particulary the high revenue teams like the football team and basketball team.

Athletic director Gene Smith said in an e-mailed statement Friday that, OSU’s compliance department is expanding to eight full-time positions from six to monitor OSU’s 1,100 athletes. Compliance director Doug Archie said he requested the two new positions before Christmas to keep pace with other major athletic departments. They have not yet been filled.

The "exploited student-athlete" nonsense nearly sends me into a bout of projectile vomiting. What a load of horse puckey. The deal between school and "student"-athlete is no different than any other transaction in our economy. In exchange for "X", I get "Y". I go into the transaction with full knowledge of what "X" and "Y" entail. "Z" is not relevant, except to those who believe they know more than the parties to the transaction.
