I mean if I was an OSU football player and I saw TP just got a grand for a championship ring, I'd probably go sell it too. It's just a ring. It's an outdated product. They were cool in the 50s because there isn't much evidence of a football player from the 50s. Now we can just turn on ESPN classic or hell just get on the internet and see someone play. If my grandkids wanted to see proof that I was a good football player, I'd show them video, not a damn ring.

TP's ACT was not 32 or better. Do some research. A football player at OSU can get in at 26-30 and sometimes as low as a 24.

Wait, whats the rule on getting a loan based on your future earnings? Isn't it 1 $25k loan in your final year of eligibility? or $10k? Something like that

This rule came up when it was discovered that Tim Tebow bought a hyperbaric chamber while still at Florida. The link I had previously no longer works, but there was an old OC thread where we discussed it.

ABC 6 just released a statement that Auto Direct and Jack Maxton sent ALL car deals through compliance before they were completed.

Well we all know that all OSU players/athletes get at least a 24 on their ACT. lhslep was actually saying that the cars/loans for OSU football players could easily be paid for with the money they already receive. As for all the deals going through compliance, that has been maintained all along by the salesman anyway. The confusing thing to me is that they said that originally, but then Doug Archie (is that the compliance guy?) disputed that he had actually talked with the salesman on any of those deals. So I wonder if Pryor and his mom bought it with the thought of him bolting to the NFL in the supplemental draft? Could be. I didn't think much of it anyway. Wasn't a good PR move even if it was on the up-and-up, but that fits the character.
One other thing that I saw on the ESPN ticker earlier - I believe the salesman in question (I haven't paid close enough attention to his name - Kniffen?) said that OSU discouraged Pryor from buying a $20,000 car previously because either "it" or "he" (didn't process it fast enough) was "too high profile". Not sure what that means to all of the talk, but my first thoughts are: 1) they were clearly aware of the car dealings and protective of their image but 2) why would they discourage a purchase for that reason unless they knew he didn't have the money and wouldn't the fact that he was looking out of his price range be a little red flag?

Pryor = Lebron James in how he was enabled/coddled by Tressel. Dan Gilbert and all of the people before him did the same with Lebron. Both, unfortunately, learned hard lessons.

I'm comparing them in how Tressel enabled Pryor instead of turning him in and Lebron in how Gilbert enabled him and let him have run of the franchise. BOTH were given special treatment (more than they deserved) by their respective franchises. I never said Lebron was a trouble maker but, like Pryor, he was spoiled ROTTEN by ownership.

Lebron's enabling goes back prior to playing with the Cavs. The Pryor situation where he recently drove this new car with 30 day dealer plates to the Buckeyes team meeting basically says "fuck you" to all of the critics. Very poor timing. Kinda like a high school kid saying "fuck you" to the OHSAA by styling around in a Hummer?
