Why was Gee ever brought back to OSU anyway...The man is a grade A idiot. Typical Gee is walking around with his foot in his mouth..Tobias Fünke;794135 wrote:Agreed. I don't see very many scenarios in which Ohio State gets rid of Gee.
Gene Smith, however, might be toast whether it's right or wrong.

LOL at you to call Gordon Gee an idiot. He's 1000x smarter than you should ever hope to become. Man has done great things for Ohio State as president. That comment has been so blown out of proportion it's incredible. I'll admit it was poor timing, but anyone who has ever been around Gee (which clearly you haven't) knows he jokes about everything. It was a joke that was taken to a whole different level by the media.
I'm sure as hell glad I got to attend OSU while he is president instead of the C*** known as Karen "Druken Orgies" Holbrook.

but IF Pryor received money..it wasnt from anyone affiliated with the program..right? No idea who this Talbott fella is

I agree, Gee's job is secure. But I do think he will have to answer some tough questions and there will be some fingers pointed at him.
And yes, Gee is a tremendous asset to OSU. He's friendly with students, boosters love him and he's genius. The amount of money he is able to raise is remarkable.

As I stated, this could get WORSE before it gets better. Unfortunatley, I believe this shit happens quite a bit all over..but OSU got caught. If this is true, the OSU program, as I stated is in shambles. If they get USC type of punishment, it will set this program back YEARS....

Gee's only issue is that he trusted Smith to run the athletic program. Then Smith trusted Tressel to run a clean program. Its dominos. How far they fall, will be determined by the money/ board of trustees. Gee is not untouchable. Gee made a bad joke about the football coach firing him...but before all of this went down, lets be honest, that was some truth to it. I doubt Gee does get the ax....Smith on the other hand is walking on VERY, VERY thin ice right now.

Pryor's ex-friend was former Buckeye Antonio Henton.
I now think the sanctions will be on the level of USC. Prior to this, I thought maybe a one or two year bowl ban with some loss of scholarships. Now, the LOI is imminent.

He did, which makes little sense to me as well. Brandon Joe tweeted it this morning and it has spread.

So someone who was completely gone from Columbus (remember he is from Georgia) saw all of this go down? That makes 0 sense to me.
Is SBdouche still the only one saying that they have copies of checks?

Good call. Henton played for Georgia Southern in 2008. (TP's first year)

Now people are saying it was actually Henton's brother -- Antwan -- who was ESPN's source in the Pryor story

I'm not trying to be a troll at all, but weren't some of the money sources at SMU Non-Boosters as well? I forget the name, but the guy who was giving money to Chris Webber and the Fab-5 at Michigan was just a businessman that they players knew and WASN'T a booster, but the NCAA treated him like a Booster before the Michigan Basketball program was smashed to pieces.
With all of that, couldn't this Talbott guy be considered a booster and make things worse for OSU? I forget some of these details for both SMU and the Fab 5.

Pretty sure Reggie Bush was receiving improper benefits from a non-booster as well. It was a sports agent that was giving Bush the money.

now that pryor is no longer a buckeye , that means he doesnt have to answer the NCAA. that being said its time for pryor to make some real cash. now its legal for boosters to buy his silence, which i'm sure they are lining up with their check books as we speak.

The SMU slush fund was paid for by a booster (or boosters) and the AD and Recruiting Coordinator had direct knowledge of it. I believe even the Governor of Texas knew about it (he was on the Board at SMU just prior to taking office). Not that it really matters because as pointed out, Reggie Bush's benefactor had absolutely no tie to USC:

Which could also turn out to be worse for OSU. Is it possible that not being able to get answers from those directly involved pissed the NCAA off in the USC case and contributed to the extent of the penalties?

The piling on continues. Now Guiton's name being thrown in the mix. Though nothing proven in this article, it just extends the possibility of how many could be involved.

As was the case with Mike Hamilton at Tennessee wanting to have a "clean slate" before his school went before the NCAA, I have a feeling this may come to fruition as well.
