Nah, I think you are referring to the Glavine Effect. Maddux usually had good enough movement that hitters would give up on pitches that would actually catch the corner of the plate.

His range is limitless in center though. And until someone better than him arrives, he will be the CF until he sucks.

                        Heisey is a better fielder, just not good enough with the bat, and doesn't have the potential Stubbs does. I take it you missed Heisey's misplay the other day? He's no better than Stubbs.
