Mine is Aron, daughter is Arizzona Emmanuelle, son is Amadeus Edcyl.

The two things that I did to address my own family history and/or tradition was maintaining the initials A.E.A. (4th generation) and honoring my maternal grandfather within that by rearranging "Clyde" to make "Edcyl".

Sorry to get off topic - so, here's something about another chattererer: Speedofsand gets great tickets to Florida football games.

Do people pronounce it like pizza? I would think it'd be a pain in the ass to have to explain your name and spelling your entire life.

He goes by "Amadeus". I always thought it was funny when I'd tell people the name and they'd say, "what are you going to call (him/her)?" I just fucking told you. If I wanted a shorter name, I'd have named them something different. Amadeus has called himself by his full name since he first started talking, as well (he's two).

Um...no, that has never happened. In response to "what is your name?", I've answered "Aron with one 'A'" my entire life. Not really a big deal.

Also, i think peoples names reflect their parents more than anything. My moms name is spelled wrong and i'm almost positive it's because my grandmother didnt know the proper spelling. When i see odd spelled names it makes me think the parents are trying too hard to be different or are uneducated.

Damn, you're right - she hasn't completed 6th grade yet. But she's doing okay, thanks for your concern.

Agree with your first line and it is probably an obvious point. It isn't like you can pick a name that "fits" the personality of a person when they are a new born. The only thing I would say about your last line is that it doesn't mean someone is trying "too hard". Obviously there was a desire to be different in those cases, but it doesn't mean you're trying to make some grand statement about bucking the system.

Pronounced the same as "Aaron", just lost an "A" in the spelling. Elvis Presley's middle name was "Aron", which is where my mom got the idea (choosing the name, itself, had nothing to do with Elvis).

Not concerned at all. Just telling you. I'd make fun of her and call her Pizzona. Do ppl tell her that her name is misspelled? did you honestly even think for 2 sec how often she's going to have to explain her name to ppl her entire life?

I see nothing wrong with Aron. My bro-in-law, Ron, has a nephew named this and spelled the same. The Nephew is somewhat named after him. His younger brother was know to always get his brothers attention by saying "Hey Ron". It came out like he was saying A Ron. He named his boy Aron as a tribute to his older brother. (pronounced Aaron) Truth be known, I've always wondered why there are 2 A's in Aaron.

I have a relative who was named Aaron, but he legally changed the spelling to Air'n.

Yeah its a common practice. That's not unusual. I know I pick my doctors that way too. Crazy foreign name and I'm not going to you. I wouldn't go to a Dr. Arizzona because I would think she's an idiot. And it sort of sounds like a stripper name.

As the consumer, why wouldn't you choose your medical professional based on what you perceive to be the best doctor, regardless of name?

I have a doctor whose name I'm not sure how to pronounce (I call him "Doc" or "Dr. N"). He's from Zaire, and his last name is pretty long, and contains consonants that shouldn't be consecutive ... but are.

But he's a good doctor, so I deal.

With business, it's a whole new ballgame, because you have to do what will be perceived as the best thing in the eyes of customers and/or partners as well.
