So many call her delusional, a wing-nut, a radical, etc. and yet, when you read what she's saying, it makes sense. In summary, she lambastes crony capitalism - from BOTH parties, she takes Obama to task for his incompetence/lack of experience, and she lays out what she would do to get our country back on track. Even the Left would agree with her on some points, such as eliminating corporate welfare and tying up loopholes used to perpetuate the crony's well-being. Her main points:

1. Eliminate the feds from all things not under their direct control and return to the 10th Amendment principles. Empower people and entrepreneuers, not politicians.
2. Reign-in burdensome regulations and eliminate most of all...ObamaKare.
3. Stop runaway debt. Balance the budget. Attack entitlement spending while we have a choice and not when we won't have one.
4. Become an energy superpower and dramatically reduce our reliance on foreign purveyors and leeches.
5. Reduce or eliminate corporate taxes, eliminate corporate welfare, attract foreign investors, and bring companies that fled the U.S. due to the punishing tax structure back home.

I would love to see a Sarah ticket with Paul as the VP.

Always laugh when people rant about how dumb she is. I've watched a lot of interviews and never once thought wow this broad is an idiot. Obama and Biden have more gaffes than she does but I never hear anyone say anything about Barry and not nearly enough about Biden.

2012 will be a landslide victory for the GOP with Obama posting those type of poll rating numbers.

I'm sure the Bammer's speech Thursday will help his poll numbers a lot more than the economic numbers.

I do not like Perry, he seemed uncomfortable and honestly seems like a guy who gave a powerpoint presentation instead of actual ideas.

Yeah, I definitely like Newt. Probably the sharpest intellectually of the bunch. However, I thought it ironic that he was warning fellow Republicans to avoid taking cheap shots at each other when the real opponent is Obama, yet he was barely a candidate for 5 minutes when he took a nightstick to the kneecaps of Paul Ryan's plan to salvage Medicare.

Oh well, I don't see him getting the nomination, but he definitely needs to have some input in the White House either as VP or Secretary of Fill in the Blank.

I like Perry, but I know what you're talking about. I don't like it when he and the others lean so heavily on the cheap political points of "Oh yeah, well I created more jobs than . . ." and "Oh yeah, well your great-uncle didn't create as many jobs as my great-uncle", etc, etc. It's obvious to anyone with half a brain that anyone on that stage tonight could help the economy and inspire more risk-takers and wealth-creators to invest in job-creating activities than Obama could. Ron Paul...the Republicans' version of Dennis Kucinich. Need I say more? I'll bet his supporters have those Star Trek uniforms cleaned and pressed.
Rick Santorum...is he still in this? So far off the radar I'm surprised he doesn't wear a name tag.
Herman Cain...whenever I see him I am reminded of belly. 'Nuff said.
Huntsman...possibly the voice of reason in the Republican Party, but no one in the party wants any part of reason these days.


So I believe it's Perry and Romney. Romney being the old school candidate who can't win the South and Perry as a dumbed-down version of George W. Bush (imagine that being possible) who can't win over the moderates or independents.

Something's got to give and my money's on Mitt. I say that common sense takes over in the next year and Republicans rally around the only candidate who can beat Obama.

Looks like Perry had enough of Dr. Paul pointing out to everyone what a piece of shit he is.

Caught the debate on MSNBC.com. Romney impresses me. I think he's become a little more charismatic as well. I was expecting Rick Perry to be more charismatic and give a little more substance. I wish they wouldn't put Romey and Perry in the middle...like they're not even trying to pretend like they're the candidates who are going to get the most action and they stick Ron Paul off in the corner, etc. Caught Pawlenty on the Colbert Report too and he was so much better then I ever saw him on the campaign trail. I hope Romney wins. He's got Greg Mankiw as his chief economic adviser and he's a reasonable and good economist who would not follow that hardline of the right wing and has a more nuanced position on the government's role in stimulating the economy.

Perry just doesnt come across to me as intelligent. If he runs against obama he will lose especially once people start to see who he really is I want nothing more thanfor obama to lose. I just don't see perry appealing to independants.

Observations from the debate:

1. What the hell kind of format was that? Brian Williams and his sidekick looked like they were asking random questions to random candidates. They also basically ignored Cain and Santorum. They tried to ignore Ron Paul too, but he wouldn't let them by going after Perry. I think he figures the way to get in the limelight is to go after those already in it.

2. What was the walking questioner all about? Why can't that guy sit down and ask questions like the other two? What makes him so special? By getting in the camera shot, he also made it appear the candidates were talking down to him. This is a visual ploy by NBC to make the Repubs appear "above the fray". See if they do that to Barry's gang.

3. Romney looked strong. Perry looked like a rookie in his first debate...he'll get better. I really like Herman Cain and his Chilean reference for social security was spot-on. Bachmann was...ummm...Bachmann. Newt throws down gauntlets like nobody else; he's fun to watch but not vote for. Huntsman is the Rodney King-sponsored candidate (can't we all just get along?) and a RINO on full display. Santorum needs to pack his bags and beg for a VP nomination. His time is up.

Good analysis. I laughed at the "visual ploy" comment because I was thinking the same thing. In the end it'll be Romney or Perry. I would be OK with a Santorum VP situation. Maybe a Perry (Texas) and Santorum (Pennsylvania) ticket at this point?
