Over the past few months I have not been impressed with anyone individual. That being state I think that the Republican winning ticket will be not just one individual as President but the combo of President and VP Candidate ticket. Who ever takes the conservative vote popularity of Palin as VP ( if she will take it for future gain as president) with the future Palin as GOP President will be the ticket to beat.

This week another potential Republican Candidate could be emerging, nobody seeing it… Robert Michael Gates

Still to early ... Obama still has time for more failure. Which will put him into the Jimmy Carter catagory.

Yes,Pawlenty would be able to "bring home" several state in the North...seeing how he is polling 10-15 points behind the President in his home state of Minnesota

IMO....the only Republican I would even be concerned with is Chris Christie....and seeing how he isn't running(he isn't a dummy) I'm not concerned with anyone in the field right now

It is too bad that Tim Pawlenty has gone off the wagon. The guy is making the claim that we will have 5% economic growth for a decade under his lead. This has not happened since before WWII. It's like the kid running for student body president claiming he will end homework.

Gates would never do it. He is not a political person and frankly wants to get out of the spotlight. It was just a struggle to keep him on as SECDEF until 2011 as he wanted out in 2009.

Notice I said maybe

But this is a completely different situation... I would almost be willing to bet everything I own that on January 20th 2013....Barack Obama will be taking the Oath of Office for the second time

You are telling me that you can see the future a year and a half out?
Man, I'm guessing you are assuming no major events will occur in the next year or so? You know, like the economy going up or down, another war, natural disaster, political scandal etc. that won't radically change the landscape?
You should move to Vegas and bet on sports then.....
Come on.
Tomorrow the President can be thrown into a huge crisis that sinks him or the economy could sink or rebound killing or raising his chances.

I seem to remember a lot of bull**** being tossed around prior to November 2008 as well. The candidate may change, but the eternal optimism continues.

You can make this upcoming election a referendum on Obama, as it should be, but you also have to put up a candidate who can convince enough voters that a Republican can do things differently than the last two Republican Presidents. I know we like to bash on the Bushes, but you need to prove that you have learned from the mistakes they made and that you can drive the car without steering it into the ditch. Otherwise, there's no reason to make a change.

Believe me, if I thought there was a Republican out there who could do a better job without eliminating the middle class I would say so. Right now all you've got is a bunch of finger-pointers who don't have any clue about how to get the job done. You say Obama was inexperienced, these folks are no better, in my opinion. Somebody needs to step up and lay out a plan which will encourage people to vote for him. You'll notice I left out the women. Herman Cain has a better chance than they do, and that's not saying much.

The sad thing is that you value his winning over the inarguable fact that he has been a disaster.

What is arguable though is that the other guy would have been any better, and I voted for the other guy.

Looking forward, it would be difficult for any of the yahoos on the GOP side to be any worse.

Watching the GOP debate.....I'm not the least bit concerned about any of the current crop of GOP candidates

All it has turned into is a bash Obama session. I have not heard ONE concrete idea from any of them

I really like Herman Cain, but I don't know if America is ready for another black man to be president.

Agreed, an abomination is a more appropriate term. For god's sake the U.S. is a going concern right now. Another 5 1/2 years of Obamanomics and we might as well hand China the keys. This is what we get for electing someone who can't even read a balance sheet. We deserve the government we elect....and being a representative democracy we can change it - we made a HUGH mistake in 2008 and are suffering for it. Being a media darling can't mask the fact that Obama was clearly unqualified to be POTUS, and the last 2 1/2 years have been the result. For someone promising to make the economy his #1 concern, apparently his #1 concern is destroying it.

Also, Ron Paul is knocking these questions out of the park. I just wish he'd phrase it more so that the average American can understand what he's talking about.

Romney just seems like a douche, Michelle is worthless and I can't see her being president. Pawlenty is okay, Newt is a joke, Santorum is also a joke.

While I 100% agree with you, do you think Gibby understands what a going concern is, or really anything in here? He'll just post an irrelevant poll, and continually toot Obama without any logical argument.

Eh, you'd be wrong. With a couple exceptions, every one of them is WAY more experienced than Obama was when he took office. And it's not really close.

No kidding. I really think the country was under mass hypnosis in '08. Obama is the most inexperienced, unqualified POTUS we've elected - by a large margin. He's been terrible and it isn't necessarily his fault, but rather that of the voters and his enablers. Even today he's joking about the economy - I guess it wasn't as shovel-ready as we expected. Yuk it up, if I pulled such a fast one on the American people I'd joke as well.
