bo shemmy3337;774248 wrote:You are correct, this is because you can buy OFF ROAD gas which is tax free. Ask any farmer and they will tell you about off road gas. OFF ROAD gas means just that. No tax for the ROADS. You are correct!!!!!

No tax isn't the only reason it is off road, emissions additives and so on are why it is off road. You can make your own bio fuel and drive on the road and not pay any tax, so that blows up your theory right there. Same thing with electric cars.

If the gas tax was a road use tax, they wouldn't be trying to change it to a mileage tax..... because the gas tax ISN'T a road use tax, and that is what they want now.

Edit: forgot CNG cars too, which are huge out west. They pay no gas tax.

Very few posters on this thread really don't have a clue about the Amish. I am LMAO at some of the comments I have read here specifically about them not paying road tax. I have spoken to numerous Amish that stated they dedicate a certain percentage of their earnings and willingly devote that money to go to the state, county, and townships for roads. Many have told me that they use the roads too and do more damage than cars do so they feel that they owe the debt as well.

The speculation of what I've read is ridiculous although I don't condone the religion itself. I grew up in Holmes county and have relatives that are still Amish so I know their ways. To speak for myself the religion is a cult and nothing I ever would want to be a part of.

Someone had mentioned that they worked with the Amish on in construction basically stating that they are rude assholes which for the most part is not true, an apple tree will occasionly drop rotten fruit you know

Name one way that the Amish helped progress the species of man without the obvious answer, death.

And how have you helped progress the species of man?

This is a question of many walks of life not just the Amish.

Thought what?
They go to retirement homes to sing to the old folk, they help their neighbor when in need, they prepare food and such for those in need or despair, they travel countless miles to a funeral of someone they barely know just to support a friend, they work their ass off providing goods and products... way to many things to name just like any good person in all walks of life.

So what have you done to progress the species of man?

If your nuts are so firm as to be able to knock someone unconscious and so far slumped that they can could reach across a room if stretched then I think you should seek immediate medical attention.

This sort of reminded me of a certain Joe Rogan joke, you listen to him?

This for the most part is false. Most of them are as picky about their horses as we are of our engines. Why would they prematurely blow up their engine? For the most part the Amish are proud of their horse.

Actually I've heard the same thing from my aunt about how they treat their horses. But she's only a vet, a thoroughbred owner/breeder, a judge/official for the USEF and an avid horse person so what the hell does she know?

I have listened to very little of his stuff though I've liked it. Haven't heard the joke you're talking about (being honest here). I mostly follow Rogan for his MMA commentary.
