1) Every team has 'that team' they simply cannot beat. The Pirates are that team for the Reds...it's really no big deal.
2) The Pirates aren't really "lowly" they're not great, but they should hover around .500 or just slightly below .500 the whole season...there's enough talent there to be competitive. 1-5 is bad, but again, they're just "that team" this year.

I'm paying attention to the game on Yahoo. For the player mugshots that come up whenever someone is at the plate or pitching, Joey Votto looks like immediately after his picture was taken, he broke the cameraman's neck with his bare hands simply for wasting the 15 seconds of his time it took to take the pic. Meanwhile Joe Beimel (still his Dodgers pic) looks like he's coming off a meth bender. He also killed a cameraman, but that was because the voices told him the dude was getting into his stash.

Classic letdown series. Huge series with Cards and Flubs at home and a two game stint vs the lowly pirates before a titanic 10 game roady.
