I hate to agree with this Laley, but .... I agree. I HATE Clemens, but until someone proves he cheated (and I think we are close), he has to get the nod.
Still can't believe he didn't get ejected from Game 2 of the 2000 World Series for chucking that bat, what BS

Read Torre's book, The Yankee Years, there is a good section in it about that incident.

I listen to Hawk Harrelson do the Sox telecasts from time to time. Might as well nominate him. Don't forget Duane Kiper doing the same with the Giants. Gotta love those ex-Indians.

Mays is the best IMO....but the longer time ago they played can boost them up some. Those super old HOF players like Yogi Berra and Stan Musial...any baseball fan and player of the past 55 years are going to get some chills when they see them being honored and such.
If not for his circumstances...Pete Rose would be way up there.

No doubt about that. Pete really shot himself in the foot. Imagine, if he hadn't been such a dick he would regularly be mentioned in discussions such as these and would be a regular on baseball's biggest stages.
What a waste of truly incredible talent.

Just a curious question, how many people on here that are picking guys like Mays and Aaron actually watched these guys play? Just interested to know if you think the competition and the athletes back then are comparable to todays athletes.

Mays and Aaron both played a good portion of their careers before expansion watered downt he talent level.
