Of course it is, but transferring and out of staters renting a coaches house from him are two different things....As is offering a private school education for free.

Please don't compare a kid transferring to what goes on at the parochials.

So basically if a kid transfers to Massillon, it is all good. But if a kid transfers to a private school, they are cheating?

How many Massillon football players are paying tuition?

Again, you hear what you want to hear. If a kid transfers ANYWHERE, it's fine with me. It's when a kid gets this and that offered to him to get him to attend your school. It's when kids are, "specifically targeted". It's when a coach "rents" a home to out of staters to get the kid to your school. Etc....Etc....Etc....

You're contradicting yourself and showing to be quite hypocritical. If a kid transfers to a public school (where they don't have to pay a cent)...you are OK with that. But if a kid transfers to a parochial school and gets money off of his tuition, that's an issue with you? Why?

Every public school kid is receiving a scholarship. I know because I pay a lot of money into those scholarship funds.

Because it'd used as a tool. Everyone knows that a private school education is looked upon as being superior, and for good reason, privates don't have to take any old body that walks in off the street. You have to meet certain standards to attend a private school, such as a kid keeping his grades up, and staying out of trouble. The most important thing you need to attend a private school is $$$$. Now, don't stand here and tell me that privates don't take advantage of their superior academics by offering a kid a superior education for free.

Many public schools offer a great education to students as well. There are some public schools that do a better job in certain areas than private schools. Do you feel that those public schools have an unfair advantage?

Do you have any proof that this ever happened in your life time. The only kid I know that moved from out of state was a young basketball player from Detroit who lived with an assistant coach from Boardman. By the way they were sanctioned for that one. Can you give me names and PROOF, not your assumptions, of this happening at a parochial school.skank;781118 wrote:Of course it is, but transferring and out of staters renting a coaches house from him are two different things....As is offering a private school education for free.
As far as parochial education being free what do you call the open enrollment kids who come to Massilon? Do the tax dollars from the home district compare to a scholarship? Personally I don't like a kid taking my tax dollars to another district but that's what they do and I have to live with it.

So let me get this straight. Privates should be penalized because they do a better job of educating students and win more sports championships? If a kid goes to a private school for the better education and his family isn't wealthy, it's some kind of crime when somebody gives the kid a break so he can partake of a better education? So if a kid is born into a poor family, in a bad district, he's condemned to whatever kind of education that district decides to give him? What if that district is Glenville? What if it's in Youngstown?
Got it. That's quite an admission, Skank.

Come on jock, they're "giving the kid a break?" Just so happens that St. V gave a handful of kids, "a break", in the early 2000's and it just so happens that those kids were GREAT basketball players. The parochials take advantage of their situation, IT'S A TOOL.

But if those same kids went to a nearby open enrollment school to get out of the crappy Akron city schools...that wouldn't bother you. Even though those kids would be getting a better education, and...gasp!...wouldn't have to pay anything. Why is that better than them going to St. V's for free?

It probably isn't better really, are you telling me that the parochials don't play the free superior education card?

Green: So you agree it isn't better...but still feel that the parochials are the ones that "cheat" and the public schools don't. Bottom line, a school is going to stress it's good points in order to attract students. Whether that is better educational opportunities, a winning football tradition, a great theater department, or whatever the case...every school does it, both private and public...and that is fine.
Red: Are you telling me that OE schools that surround crappy inner city districts don't play the same card?

This is everyone's final warning on name calling. Those that have been warned before, they will be banned from the football forum. Anyone that hasn't, consider this your warning. Keep it on the topic, absolutely no name calling or insults to anyone will be tolerated anymore. It's been let go long enough.
