Would you trade the #1 for him?

Keep the team together. Let perkins be healthy and used to the system. All the young guys will improve, baby steps.

This year? Hell no. Other years with actual talent...it would depend, it would be a possibilityjpake1;778372 wrote:Would you trade the #1 for him?

I personally think they need a different Center. Perkins is overrated and with the way OKC runs its offense (fast paced and fast break oriented) Perkins is just a big slow waste of space to them

That's a problem imo. They don't play great defense when they need it, and have poor halfcourt sets in the clutch. They could use a slower paced game that more resembles playoff ball. Perk is fine, just what they need at center.

And Playoff basketball is a pretty broad term. I mean all 4 teams lef tin the playoffs favor a fast paced game with more posessions and lots of transition points

Then stop thinking people think he's more than what he is. He's no allstar talent. He's poor on offense. He's an average rebounder. But he has the toughness of playoff basketball and defensive attitude it takes to win slower paced games. Have you watched the ecf?

I know he has toughness to play in a slower paced game. But the Center position is changing, it no longer really favors slow lumbering centers. And when your PG(Westbrook) is almost as good of a rebounder as your Center...thats a problem.
And yes ive watched the ECF. Both teams are playing great defense so tis slowed down transition buckets. But int heir previous series both teams prefer to get a rebound, out let and score before the opposing defense sets
Edit juts looked, Westbrook is only at 5 rebounds per game. Thought he was 6.5 or so, my bad

Not when you your pg and sf make up for it. He could improve there though. The center position doesn't really favor anybody anymore. Young guys simply arent learning the skill sets like players before them. Every team would like easy baskets because of transition, but fast paced teams simply don't win nowadays. Its the teams with defense that can score in the halfcourt that win. Dallas has the ability to play that way and will in the finals. Okc cant.

It's not necessarily that they make up for it. Take Kevin Love, great rebounder, and put him on the Heat roster--his numbers will go down. Perkins plays with 2 perimeter guys (Durant and Westbrook) who are going to get up and get 10 boards a game between them. So it doesn't necessarily mean that he sucks, as long as he puts a body on somebody then he's doing his job.
I thought the same about Perkins to an extent, he's looked exposed not playing with the Big 4 in Boston. But he's a good C for the Thunder. Would they rather have Jeff Green in this series? Maybe, but that's just this one series--against most other teams, including both in the East, you'd rather have Perkins. Once Westbrook learns how to actually play the PG position, which will happen, they'll be just fine. In this case, this year, they just ran into a desperate team that wants it more and is on a roll. Led by veteran talent, they just get it done.
And honestly, I have no been very impressed with Durant as this series has gone on. He isn't really helping Westbrook play like an actual PG. Neither is Scott Brooks for that matter.

Both teams still want to do that. And try to do that as much as possible, but both have excellent transition defense.

Yes.
And holy hell, the announcers, the halftime crew everyone is just ripping on Westbrook. They are trying their hardest to drive a wedge between him and Durant it seems. Feel bad for the kid kinda

I flipped over for 2 possessions and he took two straight horrible shots without passing the ball. Durant had Terry on him and wanted the ball.

He bumped him, and Terry flailed out of bounds. After coming up knowing Westbrook was calling a timeout and wrapping him up pretty much.

Pressuring a time out call that he knew was coming? Its a dick move and an overreaction selling it to get a T called
