Wow...what a play by their 2nd baseman Downs to save the run from scoring

Looked like Jonny had given the Reds the lead, but a BP-esque play for the force-out nixes that!

Ondrusek isn't playing I like the way this guy pitches.

That double by Pence I don't think was aided in any way by bad, lazy, or sloppy play by Stubbs. Pence was hustling all the way and looking for an opportunity and when the ball took an obscure bad hop on the last one to Stubbs, nearly getting thru his wicket, Pence picked it up right away and continued for 2nd, and the off-balance that Stubbs had gotten from correcting to corral the hop made him unable to peg out Pence at 2nd.

I think it was lazy. He never even came towards the ball. He stood there with his legs apart and waited on it. Thus putting himself in terrible position to make any sort of quality throw.

Don't wanna jinx it but the non-April Nick Masset is starting to show. When the guy has it working, he's got the best overall variety of stuff on the staff.

I'd say we deserve to 10 hits to 4. But need someone to come up big.

Masset is nasty this time around. First 2 retired easily and the 3rd

Yes, only 6 pitches, resulting in Masset not being ready yet, so Dusty resorted to a seldom used strategy to give him more time to get ready. Usually they do that when they plan to put an opposite armed pitcher in to see if there is a pinch hitter, and who it is!

Didnt see the stubbs play...was it nonchalant or do ya thik he was a little gunshy after the dive the other night that got by him for a triple where he missed the ball by a foot or so?

Hard to say. Pence didn't waste time getting out of the box.

Maybe so. Usually it is an infielder who waits and "lets the ball play him", but in the outfield a more common mistake is to charge hard and if there is a bad hop, it turns into 3 bases. So yes maybe a bit more of forward gait may have been better for Stubbs. Just an example of how going hard all the time puts so much more pressure on the defense!
