Why? It's not in the infractions letter already sent out, and NOTHING in the article links JT or the coaches in any way, shape or form -- and that's ASSUMING there's something wrong with these sales; a fact not yet in evidence.

Step back from the ledge until there's a reason to go out there.

Tressel and the program are already on the ledge regardless of what happens here. It may all be legal, but with the current problems with Tressel any little thing holds relevance and makes things look even worse.

And honestly if the Dispatch is turning on Tressel and openly going after the program, Tressel will be done. Never thought The Dispatch had the balls to bring up accusations like this without more substance behind it.

It seems like you are assuming that because it looks worse to you, even if it's legal, the NCAA is going to do the same without infractions actually occurring.

Eh, it's not uncommon to see current players up on the wall. Various charity auctions, etc are the source of those items.

All of this (tattoogate, tress lying, these cars, etc.) really puts the $5K Boise State spent over five years in proper perspective. Yet the Broncos are the one facing a Lack of Institutional Control charge????

I just want the University to get in front of this and lay the hammer down on the team next year. Suspend all five players and suspend Tressel for the whole year next year, no bowl game, no Big Ten title game if they get that far. If they do that, that 1. Shows the brand is more important than this class or this coach (which it is) and 2. OSU is being proactive instead of reactive.

I've already said, next year is a wash, let's make it official and accept next year is a bust and move on.

And the argument well it happens at all the programs makes little sense. Just because everyone does it does not justify it. I want OSU to win a clean program and be perceived a clean program. Right now, it is lumped in with FSU, Miami, Auburn, and USC. Not good company.

Some of you have short memories, or you're very young.

The Dispatch jumped on the bandwagon with all the Clarret accusations, and did a big story about cars back then. All of it, the ESPN articles, NY Times articles, Dispatch articles, and endless chatter by the talking heads turned out to be a great big NOTHING.

Now, we know what JT did was a big mistake and there will be punishment coming for that. Justifiably so.

What we do NOT know is if there's anything else -- regardless of how things look now. Right now, the NCAA isn't saying anything and the media wonks are having a field day. Guess what: they're going to do that REGARDLESS.

I love Ohio State and want them to do things the right way, but I also want proof of further wrongdoing, and not a bunch of (at this point) baseless allegations. I learned my lesson about those when MC was shooting off his mouth, and was joined by a bunch of other disgruntled ex-players.

If this ends up being more infractions, then the university absolutely needs to take firm action. But I want proof, not hearsay.

I think you are foolish if you think the MC stuff was a bunch of nothing. The difference between then and now, is that then, the NCAA had no reason to come and investigate beyond MC's talk. Now, they are already investigating, so now they are turning over leaves.

The Clarett stuff was much much more. I'm not a conspiracy theorists, buy I've heard that the mob was heavily involved in the Clarett stuff from Youngstown people whom I trust.

Yes I'm assuming this car stuff is more serious than may be perceived at this time. But Tressel already put this program in a bad spot and should be unemployed. Any little thing will be magnified now. And honestly how can anyone ever trust anything Tressel ever says going forward? He lied directly to his bosses and all of us and completely insulted everyones intelligence while doing it.

Respectfully disagree, you won't see it even at "rogue" colleges. Growing up in the Huntington, WV area there is no way you would see a current Marshall player plastered on any wall, at Bobby Pruett's or the MU hall of fame. It just doesn't happen.

As sad as it is, OSU needs to take the medicine. At best the current penalties are enforced, on the other hand vacating the '10 season and big scholly losses is not an attractive outcome.

You're clueless. The NCAA came to OSU not once, but TWICE during the whole MC fiasco. Two times they came into OSU and did a thorough look at the sports program and found ZIP.

Take a look at CFB History with the Pony Express down at SMU. The newspapers in Dallas were drooling at the mouth trying to get this shit out to the public. I agree, you'd think the Dispatch (or any newspaper with links to a University-see Michigan and the Free Press) would have the back of their local university. However, it seems like they want to make $$$$$ and become Nationally famous.

So when did the Dispatch sell memoribilia for tattoos? When did it hide info from the NCAA. Ohio State is in this situation because they got themselves in the predicament.

Nobody would respect the Dispatch as a legitimate paper if they sat on or squashed big news tories

No one does respect the Dispatch because of their yes sir approach to OSU. That's why this is all so suprising. Ken Gordon had about 15 tweets yesterday defending the Dispatch because people were being critical of them for biting the hand that feeds them. The fact that he felt he needed to explain himself tells me how scared they were to go after OSU.

I completely understand that. I was responding to someone else (see the quote I used) look no farther than SMU and their scandal. My point was on this car situation. It seems like The Dispatch is the one brining all of this out. I 100% get what you're saying though. If the Dispatch DIDN'T do this, they'd be the laughing stock of the journalism world, and some other paper would do it and get the recognition.
