Well, what a great homestand we just had! That makes for 5 three game sweeps so far this year out of 9 attempts! We only had 4 all of last year. One thing we need to do on here is try not to be "negative nellies" in the middle innings. I believe the Tribe has proven themselves on this "never giving up" business, so we should give good support on here and keep that karma in high gear!

Monday is an off day and then we head to the West Coast to start out with a 3 game series against the Oakland A's. While you are waiting for this game, check out a thread started by the infamous OC instigator Gardens35 and have some fun. http://www.ohiochatter.com/forum/threads/24949-BRF-s-Tribe-Thread-(name-em-x-3)

The Tuesday and Wednesday games have a start time of 10:05 (these games are tough on BRF's sleep habits!), with the Thursday game at a 3:35 start time.

Oakland has had terrific pitching going so far this year. Here are the probable starters:

Game 1 pits Carmona vs. Ross.

Game 2 will see Tomlin vs. Cahill (both pitchers are 4-0)

Game 3 rubber toers (I just made that word up) will be Gomez vs. Anderson

We will see what we are made of.............again!

Go Tribe!

Oakland comes in as the #1 ranked team in MLB with a team ERA of 2.79. However, they are only hitting .237 as a team with 13 HR and 90 runs. Compared to Cleveland's 34 HR's and 141 runs.

A's pitching has been nothing short of outstanding. Probably won't be a lot of runs scored. It will be up to the starting pitchers to keep it close.

Yeah, definitely need our pitchers on their "A" game.

Carlos Santana is hitting .198 and yet we are still winning. Santana also has 17 RBI's on 17 hits.

Reminds me of the year Hafner had 100 RBI, but hit around .250 or something.

Santana is also leading the team in walks, and managing the pitching staff brilliantly.

Would love to have a healthy Talbot. The sooner the better. Gomez needs to go and Carrasco needs to be a bullpen guy. Miller needs more opportunities on the mound.

Gomez could use more seasoning in AAA but Carrasco to the bullpen? Along with White and Pomeranz, Carrasco is one of our most promising starting pitchers. He has the stuff that could make him a #2 starter and maybe even a #1. His stuff is too good to be put in the pen. And Miller as in Adam? The guy who just pitched for A Kinston for the first time after having not pitched since 2008? He just came back from injury and will be brought along slowly, as he should be given his injury history.

Carlos Carrasco has done pretty good thus far as a SP.

I also have faith in Santana bringing up his average to at least 290 by the time it's all said and done.

One positive for the road trip is we will miss J. Weaver once again as he is scheduled for Monday.

April was a great month of baseball and May has started off with a W. Not too many negative things we can say, would be great to get Talbot and CC healthy.

I have faith he will raise it, but I dunno about .290. Ill be happy with .275 at the end. I think that would mean he hit near .300 for the rest of the season.

So they won't miss Weaver as he would pitch Sat or Sunday for the Angels.

The most amazing stat I saw on SN yesterday was the Inidans run differential this year. +47! The yankees and Cardinals are second at +37. The A's are at +1. I think it will be a low scoring series but I don't see why they can't get 2 out of 3! All of the detroit games were just amazing and had to be so deflating to the Tigers. Its great to see baseball this entertaining this early in the season.

Oh yeah, any word on when Hafner will be back?

He hurt his foot sliding into home plate. He was supposed to be checked again today to see if he can go on the road trip.

As with all West coast trips, I'd be pleased with a split. Obviously this team has set up higher expectations than that to this point, but the California teams are always difficult, I'd be more than happy with just holding serve this next week.

^^^^+1

I'm not sure I'd annoint Carrlos Carrasco a possible "#1 or #2"...just yet. Then again, nobody saw Cliff Lee as anything more than a soft tossing lefty early in his career either.

Here's a little video for everyone to enjoy!

It is Hamilton's call of Santana's Walkoff Grand Slam.

Nobody does it better in all of baseball than Hamilton!
