I HATE the BCS...it doesn't matter if it's fair...only $$$$

and convincing me the money couldn't be simliar with a top 8 playoff matchup

Screw you Boise St, TCU and Cincy....you should've played in the weakest SEC or Big 12 in many years.

Travesty

I agree with you 100% man.

What the hell else are TCU and Cincy supposed to do?

They criticize them for their weak schedules, yet nobody wants to play them because no one wants to risk losing to them..

Complete BS.

If the voters put TCU in front of Texas, some serious crap will go down. Mack Brown will be doing some serious bitc*ing haha and that might get us 1 step closer. A big boy being left out should do the trick

You gotta throw Boise into that statement....they beat the best team of all those in consideration...the remainder of the schedule asn't as average as the others but saying TCU, Ciny and Texas defeated great teams all year is a farce

It's just unfathomable that in 2009 that there is no college football playoff to decide the TRUE winner

Every other level of football has a playoff. It only makes sense to settle things on the field.

If having five undefeated teams this season doesn't get us a playoff, nothing ever will.

Boise beat Oregon, then played 2 MAC teams (one of them being an awful AC team at that in Miami) and a 1-AA team. Negates it pretty quick.

TCU played 2 ACC schools, one which was in the title game, and a bowl team in SMU. They get the nod over Boise EASILY.

If you can have a playoff in 1-AA, II, III, and EVERY OTHER NCAA sport, they could make a lot of money on a 8-16 team playoff, still keep the bowls for the non-playoff teams, and keep the same venues for the playoff games. Duh. It will happen eventually, but hopefully sooner than later.

They won their game....losing to a crappy team might negate it....but beating a team does not.

The BCS eliminates the greatest thing in all of sports.. the underdogs.

If College Basketball had a BCS system, we wouldn't ever have had George Mason.

Reverse the preseason poll rankings of Cincy/TCU and Texas and Texas doesn't catch either of them.

That worst part is that you are probably dead wrong.

If TCU was #3 and barely squeaked by, Texas would easily jump them.

What does that matter? People that vote in these polls change it week by week however they see fit. TCU and Cinci simple havn't impressed the voters enough to push them past Texas. It happens every week. A team wins but drops. A team has a big win and they rise. TCU started behind Boise, but they jumped them. TCU and Cinci havn't impressed the voters as much as Texas, simple as that.

If the regular season is a playoff, i must have missed the week that Cincy, Boise, and TCU were eliminated in the playoff tournament.

They were eliminated Week 1, by virtue of not being Florida, Alabama, or Texas :dodgy:

I think there needs to be a playoff to decide the champion for the main reason that I believe you can't tell anything about a team from early season games.

Early BIG TIME non conference games are not a great measure of a team. I'd rather have team schedule all cupcakes if there was a playoff system.

USC beat OSU, but if these teams played today it wouldn't be close IMO with the way OSU is playing and the way USC is.
Boise beat Oregon, but if these teams played today it wouldn't be close IMO with the way Oregon's playing.

It takes more than a few weeks for these teams to really get rolling.

I'm definitely in favor of a playoff system that uses BCS rankings as well: 8 teams, 6 automatic bids (BCS conferences) 2 at large bids and use BCS standings for seeding.

This year the playoff would be.

#1 Alabama vs. #8 Georgia Tech
#2 Texas vs. #7 Ohio State
#3 TCU vs. #6 Oregon
#4 Cinci vs. #5 Boise State

Obviously bowl logistics are a huge issue, so it would be as follows, in my own little world.

First round of games: December 20th-ish weekend. All upper seeds host home games
2nd round (Final four): The following weekend. Game sites are 2 BCS bowl locations
Championship: the following weekend. A third BCS venue

The final BCS venue could host a game between the highest remaining BCS teams. This year that would be Florida vs. probably Iowa.

In my system, all of the other bowl games can occur, all 4 BCS venues are used, and the four highest seeds can host home games.

even in that 8 team playoff Florida would get in before boise. i think a 16 team playoff would be the best and would create a ton of excitement.

1.Bama vs 16.Miami
2.texas vs 15. Pitt
3.TCU vs 14.LSU
4. Cinci vs 13. BYU
5. Boise st vs 12. V. tech
6. Florida vs 11. Penn St.
7. Oregon vs 10. Iowa
8. Ohio State vs. 9.Georgia Tech

Florida is not going to fall past #4, so in your playoff, if you include all of the BCS conference champions, Boise State would be left out. LOL

AHHHH yes you're right I didn't even notice that.

Well, either way, Boise would be playing in a BCS bowl.
