I was reminiscing with a buddy about the good times with the Tribe, and we started discussing Albert Belle. Does anyone remember this moment?

"Belle however, got the last laugh. In Game 1 of AL Division series against Vaughn's Red Sox, Belle's 11th inning homerun tied the game at 4. After the blast, Boston mangager Kevin Kennedy asked the umpires to check the bat for cork, Belle responded by looking into the camera focused on him in the dugout, flexing his right arm, pointing to his bicep, and clearly mouthing "There's your f****'n cork.""

I was about 8 years old, but that still has to be my all time favorite tribe moment. 1995 was such an awesome summer.

I believe that's the clip of him in that Indians video they put out.

I never really got to see him with the Tribe (I wasn't really old enough), but I know he was a great power hitter and I still think he got jobbed in the '95 MVP race.

He was one of my favorite Indian of all time. And I love that shot! And yea, he did get fucked in 95. I think he was the only player to ever hit 50 HR and 50 doulbles in a season at the time, and I don't think anyone has done it since. He was the true MVP that year. But, the media hated him.

Albert definitely got fucked over in the MVP race. I guess you have to be a pretty big asshole to get jobbed by journalists in the MVP race, because Barry Bonds won quite a few MVP titles.

Albert Belle
BA: .311
RBI: 126
HR: 50
+ Best team in the league

Mo Vaughn
AVG: .300
RBI: 126
HR: 39

Yeah, I would definitely say he got fucked over.

Those stats don't lie...plus you throw in the 50 doubles and he blows Vaughn away.

I liked AB, but I really liked Thome, Ramirez (before he went crazy), Lofton, and Vizquel on the 95 team more. But, what AB did in the 95 season was immense. 50 homers in 144 games. That was a season I'll never forget.

Yeah, he was a piece of garbage off the field, but that dude brought so much intensity to the plate in every at bat. He never gave away an at bat and he was the most intimidating figure in baseball at the time. Kenny Lofton would be a close 2nd.

I remember going to see AB play at Thurmon Munson stadium, when he was with the Canton-Akron Indians.

Those were fun times.

I think that Omar's book tells the story of Albert's confiscated bat. The story of Jason Grimsly traveling through vents to get the umps locker room....it is a great read.

They did get face to face, and the benches cleared, but they didn't end up throwing any punches.

I always like Belle. I am stunned by the number of posters who say they were too young to remember! Egad!

I remember when this guy from Wooster got bit on the thumb by another fan who tried to take Belle's 50th homer away from him.
