After watching the Final Four the last couple days.

Put the two best, most deserving teams in the national championship game...not a team that finished 10th in their conference vs. a mid major with 10 losses with both teams having one legit NBA talent.

I love the BCS because of the pageantry, the bow history and the intriguing match-ups. I don't have some desire to know who exactly without refute is the best team in the nation. I simply like to see different games and styles play each other.

Teams that win 5 games in a row are more deserving than teams full of NBA talent that couldn't get it done. One year with really bizarre results and people forget that this has been the best multi-day sporting event for decades. Silly-ass short-term thinkers.

+1. As an Ohio State fan, do I think they were one of the two best teams in college basketball and should have been playing in the game last night? Yes. But I'm not bitter, they couldn't get it done when it mattered the most. The teams that made the final four deserved to be there, period.

Add another +1 to the list.

Also in football a Butler UNCONN type matchup wouldn't happen in a playoff. There would probably be an 8 or 16 team playoff and even in a 16 team playoff there is a big difference between the top 4 and the bottom 4.

Are you really going to allow one game to ruin the whole tournament concept for you? This tournament was the most exciting tournament in awhile. It provided many exciting moments for us for the past 3 weeks, which is something the BCS can't do, because no one gives a shit about the BCS games other than the national title game.

The tick sales, ad revenue and TV ratings say otherwise.

Let's pump the brakes guys. I'm glad S&L will never be the manager of a company or anything. Dude is extremely short sighted. One bad game and you want to throw away March Madness?

I love March Madness, but I like the BCS as well--as Tiernan said, it's apples and oranges....I just love college sports, and anyway, where is it written that there HAS to be a clear cut, no doubt national champion? what the hell would we need message boards, blogs, tweets, etc. if that were the case? just enjoy the ride, fellas, because I'm sure someone will eventually come along and screw it up--it's just a matter of time.

I'm of the ilk that the BCS can stay, except that its new role will be selecting those who get to participate in a small playoff at the end of the season.

RIght now in college football 2 out of 119 teams get to participate in the "playoff", which is 1.7% of all teams. That needs to be expanded to 8 (or more) teams, which puts the percentage a bit higher at 6.7%.

In basketball, 68 out of 350(?) is about 20%, which does devalue the regular season some, but March Madness is perfect and should stay as it is. The problem with college bball is the conference tourneys, which really make the regular season meaningless.

yeah I'd be fine with shaving some games off of March Madness. There are far too many games and too many average to above average teams get in.

Guys i'm not saying I now like the BCS system because of that game last night. I am not being short-sighted, I am not being a short-term thinker. It's just my personal opinion that I like to watch the two best teams, AS PROVEN BY THE ENTIRE LENGTH OF THE REGULAR SEASON, go at it for the title. I like how every week in college football is important. I like how even though a team may have the best squad, they can slip up one weekend and lose the title. In the MM tournament, it's not about the best team or the best season, it's about who is playing the best ball during 1/6 of the season. I don't like my national champion being decided that way. It has nothing to do with Butler/UCONN, but that game does further prove my stance on the subject.

LOL

First of all, how do you know I will never be a manager of a company?

Second of all, how does my dislike for the BCS becoming smaller and smaller equate to being a poor manager?

Also, where did I say anything about throwing away March Madness?

But this is exactly my point. The regular season in college football IS the March Madness tournament in college basketball. They are both practically single elimination tournaments. The regular season in college basketball is the most meaningless regular season in sports. Yes, no one really gives a shit about the other bowl games (even though, that's not necessarily true) but that isn't the point of the BCS...the point is to conceive two teams for the national championship.

Tell that to the 282 teams that don't play in the tournament.

The majority of those other 282 teams didn't get in because they didn't win their conference tourney...it had nothing to do with the regular season.
