Went to the game today and sat in our 'new' 4th row bleacher seats....obviously not as comfortable as our old front row seats, but the view is okay. O.Cab's HR went sailing to the HR porch just to the right of us, and the beer and peanuts tasted the same.
We are down to 2 seats now, instead of four...and we went from $21 dollar seats to $9.
In a sense, we managed our full season ticket plan, in much the same way the Tribe front office managed the team...since we are not going to win, we dumped costs and went with cheaper 'players'.....errr seats.
From the looks of things, it looks like a lot of people followed the owners lead.
Being a Tribe fan, it is painful to see the meager amount of people in the stands.

I'm as upset with the Indians front office as anybody else. I just dont think its that bad.........yet. Look at the Reds, they had a 15 year droubt before they made the playoffs last year. Look at a team like the Royals or the Pirates, it could always be worse.

The Indians won't make the playoffs this year, but they do have some talent in that lineup worth watching. I think most Indians fans are getting caught up with name recognition. There aren't many guys with buzz power, but Choo and Santana alone should make you want to watch.

Fans aren't going and won't show up bc the team won't spend money, but bc 6k are going to the games, the Dolans aren't going to spend money.And why would they? I think they will be fine next year, when the young pitching develops. I just hope fans start watching Choo and Santana before they leave town. You his are missing out on seeing some nice talent

who wants to play in front of 7,000 people? It won't come to that anyways. Without fan support, their is no revenue, and without revenue there aren't any big contracts

the revenue is there....but Dolan's are pocketing it. Major League baseball and its revenue sharing gives teams like Pittsburgh and Cleveland no incentive to win. If the owner doesn't care about winning...the fanbase is screwed. I don't buy for one minute that they are losing money like they claim.

Back to providing nothing relevant to the conversation I see. If you actually read my post, you would see that I complemented some of the talent on the team. They are a few good pitchers away from being a player in the Central. However, the majority of the fans in NE Ohio don't seem to be noticing that there is actually some talent on the team.

I don't understand how you can't follow my logic. You all complain about what the Dolans spend, but then you yourselves aren't willing to spend $20 to go to a game. If I was Dolan I wouldn't spend money either.

If he spends a ton of money and they keep losing, you guys will bail on them then as well meaning he'll be earning even less money. Best to be frugal, draft well, and build internally and then hope fans notice that there are good players on the team and that they have a top 10 stadium in the league to watch it in

You cant deny that they have been a better organization that the Reds over the past decade and a half.

As far as the players staying in Cleveland, that remains to be seen. The odds of Votto leaving in a few years are just as high

Gotta spend money to make money turdo. Dolans traded away two cy young award winners in back to back seasons with nothing so far to show for it. LaPorta is looking like a bust, etc.... We dont have any young pitchers on the horizon to get excited about, nice fail there. Also 18 posts in tribes threads to 7 in Reds threads. Nice trolling FAILdo212000.

Agreed, if the Pirates are pulling a profit theres no way the Tribe aren't.

The talk is going to be worse since they shaved the payroll to 41 mil. And there is no sign of it getting better.

Look, I'm not saying that you guys need to sell out the next 200 games. Not saying that at all. And yes, they have been a better organization than the Reds over the past decade. No question there. My point remains the same. 7,000 people in attendance DURING THE FIRST WEEK of the season is a joke and it is embarrassing.

The Catch-22 just boggles my mind though. You want the team to spend money but in turn you aren't willing to spend money yourselves. The Dolans don't seem to trust the fanbase. Sure they could go spend $90 million, but what if they screw it up like the Orioles always used to and suck. 7,000 fans attending games will put you in the bankruptcy court quickly.

Fans dont want to spend money to watch a team that isnt able to compete. Thats usually how it goes in sports. Look at the Reds attendance over the past decade, Cincy fans havent been showing up to watch a losing product on the field. It isnt until the last couple years that they started filling that stadium and even that might be a stretch. The Reds were in contention all year last year and that place averaged around 25,000 a game, its holds over 43

The fans lost all hope after the 2007 run was followed up by a 2 year fire sale. Fans aren't going to spend money in hopes that the owners use it to improve the team, because it is an absolute fact that they won't, and has been proven in the past.

Say what you will about their attendance, they never ever had fewer than 10,000 people at the stadium during the first week of the season. If fans aren't going now, how many will be there in July and August?

They aren't making the playoffs, but their offense should put up some runs. Fanbases who only want to show up when their teams are World Series contenders make me laugh. I love watching Choo and Santana hit.

I understand what you're saying. I guess my point is that is that you could say the same thing about most MLB cities/teams. Its not as if Reds fans or Marlins fans or Royals fans have been packing their ballparks in hopes that things will turn around if they just continue to be good fans. The numbers prove it, fans will pay to see a winner.

There is a lot that has to do with the attendance though. The economy of Cleveland is in the shitter, the city has lost like a quarter of its population over the last decade and there is a revolt against the front office.

jordo, you may laugh at fan bases that only show up for a winner, but that is a foolish statement. No one pays money to watch a shitty product...the only exception is maybe when a new stadium is opened. and that only lasts for a couple years.

You guys are going to be fine. Keep developing pitching and then use some of that Hafner money on some other pieces. I seriously think the Tribe will contending in the Central next season. I'm not trolling or anything. I just hate to see people trash their team 3 games into the season, especially when there is some great young talent you could be watching. As Reds and Indians fans, we aren't ever sure how long we'll get to see them, so you need to take advantage while you can.
