The game is at 9:00 PM EST on Wednesday night, live on ESPN. Here is a link to the 2011 team rosters:

Who are people looking forward to seeing?
Me personally, I've seen plenty of Michael Gilchrist, but I'm really excited to see Marquis Teague. Teague, Rivers, Davis and Nash leads a loaded West squad, which should be an overwhelming favorite going in.
Thoughts?

I haven't seen Nash play at all, only highlights, so I'm interested in that probably the most.

Zeller, Dawson, Teague.
Ive seen them all quite a bit, but only in HS games, where they cant "showcase" as much.
Zeller has always been dominant, but against a bunch of kids who come to his waist lol. Interested to see what he does versus talent.
Dawson was almost always the best player.
Teague, I have been underwhelmed each time. He doesnt have the drive his relatives have had, and just is disinterested often. If I didnt know, I would say he couldnt play at this level, based on the games.

Teague is gonna be really really good I think. Especially in Caliparis system, if Knight stays the duo of Teague and Knight will be very scary

So far I am impressed with Hairston in the 3 pt contest ( even though he didnt win ) and the dunk contest. I do wish they would have judges that actually had something to do with basketball for the dunk contest.

According to Stephen Bardo, Marquis Teague is already better than his brother Jeff ever was. Well, we'll see, but Jeff was sick his last year at Wake. He had the entire package offensively, with a lightning quick drive and a soft as cotton 25-foot J. I will never forget the night Jeff went Isiah Thomas on Ty Lawson by scoring 34 to Ty's 9 in Wake's victory over North Carolina in January 2009. It also gave the Heels an 0-2 start in the ACC and shut rowd "UNC is going 40-0" yrider the fuck up for good. We haven't seen him since.

I believe I just saw a photo of Jeff Teague in the league tonight at work ... and Marquis is better now???
I know big men are usually an afterthought in these run & guns, but I'd like to see Williams against comparable size

There is no way Marquis is better than Jeff right now. As a 17-year old, without a doubt.
Nice to see Kyle Wiltjer winning the 3-point contest. The UK recruit nobody even talks about.

Yeah, he is better than all his relatives at this age, but nowhere near what Jeff Teague is now.

Although I'm glad Rowdy has yet to be seen, my question is why does everything you post have something to do with the Tar Heels in a negative sense?

I am way too wrapped up in the rivalry. I need a Tylenol 12.

reclegend's #1 rule when discussing the Carolina-Duke rivalry: The past isn't important. Unless, of course, it favors Duke.
I think this is just a coping mechanism. He knows that Duke's little "mini-run" in the rivalry is at its end.

Lol. Do I have to pull out my venn diagram again illustrating the "real" numbers of the Duke-Carolina rivalry over the last 20 years, and not the numbers that Carolina fans believe are real? As I've said, you can have the '80s. But, remember this, Michael J. Fox isn't really that cool anymore. And it's not because he can't hold a cup of water. It's because he's from the '80s.ironman02 wrote:reclegend's #1 rule when discussing the Carolina-Duke rivalry: The past isn't important. Unless, of course, it favors Duke.![]()
Is 20 years not historical enough? We can revisit the 1924 Calvin Coolidge championship, if you want. I think Al Capone drove to that game in his Model T. But I will probably turn my computer off.

Just taking a quick glance, it appears that Duke holds a 26-21 head-to-head advanatge over Carolina in the last 20 years. I think it's pretty obvious that the time period between Dean Smith and Roy Williams had a pretty adverse affect on Carolina, but I'm still willing to concede the fact that Duke has been pretty damn good over the last couple decades. They have four titles to Carolina's three, and there's no need to even mention the ACCT.
At the same time, though, I don't think you can disregard the history of the series. What if Carolina goes on a run over the next decade and dominates Duke? Will you completely disregard the run that Duke has had in recent years? The bottom line is that the two programs have very similar overall resumes. They own the ACC, they're top 5 in all-time wins, they've had great NCAA Tournament success, and they win national titles. Can't ask for much more than that.
Edit: Actually, Duke and Carolina have three titles apiece in the last 20 years. 1991 doesn't count anymore.

I'm sure there's a Duke-UNC thread somewhere this can be discussed.

Know what I love?
For every school OTHER than Kentucky (and Kyrie Irving), Jay Williams has mentioned what happens if "everyone comes back."
However, for UK he's basically already mailed it in that Brandon Knight and Terrence Jones are gone. Just an observation.
BTW, Anthony Davis is the best player in the game...imagine if he gets some coaching and works with legit D-1 talent? His high school experience is probably the worst of all of the players in this game.
