Well, I guess if you get popped twice for the same offense an indefinite suspension is what you should probably expect, regardless of where you're attending.

Honestly, I'm not crushed by the thought of him not playing next year. I think this was dumb of him, and he definitely should pay for what he did. But after the Sun Bowl, I didn't expect him to be here for this season anyways. It was a bonus that he decided to come back. Sure it's a big loss to the team without him there. But life will go on at Notre Dame without Michael Floyd. They still have a pretty good team there for next year and still should be OK next season.

I just hope he grows up and learns from this before he does something that really ruins his life.

If the NFL has their supplemental draft in July as scheduled he go declare for that

I'm less altruistic about him and his future. Everyone else lets their stars...even their half stars skate to get the Ws. I want him back on the field and I want to milk the last year of his NCAA career for every TD we can get out of it. We are a much lesser team with him on the sidelines.

Hard to get much "lesser" than they already are now. They went 8-5 last year and won the Sun Bowl. That is a joke for ND, but would be a decent season for a MAC school. If ND ever wants to get back to prominence(its been like 20+ years), they need to beat a good team. I couldn't even tell you the last time I watched Notre Dame beat anyone good, but they sure have lost to a lot of terrible schools(umm, Navy? Syracuse?)

I think everyone is jumping the gun here. I believe Kelly said that Floyd need to #1, get his life in order, #2 get things straight legally and finally get things straight with the University before he can even remotely think about football at any level. To me that sound like there's a chance that he could play this year at ND.

BTW, all the "he wished he would have entered the draft" crap is just that, crap. This DUI would have cost his draft stock too.

I wasn't necessarily saying it wouldn't hurt his draft stock, but IMO, relative to what may happen in SB, along with the hit the rep of the school may take as a result of reintstating him, this may have been a better route for him to take--in retrospect, of course...again, JMO

I agree with lotz on this one. Getting nailed for DUI a month before the NFL draft would hurt his chances of seeing the second round let alone a chance at the first.

it would hurt it some, but its not like it would drop him to the 5th round or something. Im sure if he is suspended for the season, he would rather be in the NFL playing and making money rather than sitting on his butt at ND.

what kind of caddy does he drive?

I don't think ND will take any hit on this. He's been suspended immediately and will have to follow through on every single thing the school and Kelly want him to do if he ever wants to go back.

There are a couple precedents set thay make me hopeful that he will return to school and play the entire football season. Mike Ragone was busted with pot in the offseason and never missed a game because of it. Former ND basketball player Kyle McAlarney was busted for pot too, he was dismissed immediately, got his affairs in order, was back in school and playing basketball again at ND. There's a chance for Floyd but he's has to fully comply with everything the University asks and then some and he will be just fine, otherwise, he could end up like Rashon Powers Neil who was charged with DUI out of state, he never returned to ND.

I'm probably in the minority, but I completely agree with this article. Floyd needs a lot of help, but I don't think booting him from football and ND is the answer. IMO, he will (obviously) be forced to sit out this spring to endure any punishment handed down both legally and by the university, and will probably be forced to miss a few games. He made a HUGE mistake, but he needs the ND family as support at this crossroads in his life. There is no need to throw the "death penalty" at Floyd, I just don't think that will help him improve his problems. I could be way off, but I really do not think the punishment will be as severe as some are predicting. Res Life will make a decision that will help him grow personally, without taking everything away from him.
