That's why I said that his theory is correct. It's just kind of ironic that one of the teams that would have been left out is actually in the Sweet 16.

Chuck sorta backtracked there or at the very least clarified himself regarding the Big East. He said the teams just lack tremendous talent. He started kissing Pitino's ass. LOL

Such conviction, Charles.

I really think Chuck was hungover on the pregame for Carolina's game today. Either that or he crawled out of bed and made it to the studio 2 seconds before the show started. He looked like total shit.

Always love Sir Charles. Why anyone watches him for anything but a laugh is beyond me. It bring sa nice element. The CBS guys are always so boring. EJ, Kenny and Chuck have such a great rapport together that they are a blast to listen to.
My exact sentiments, especially with regard to Reggie. As my favorite basketball player of all-time, he's also my least favorite announcer. Normally, I I'd rather listen to Fran Drescher call an NBA game. However, this tournament has really opened my eyes toward Uncle Reg. He's been great and I can admit that I was dead wrong in earlier posts.

The NBA guys in the booth were a needed boost of energy and comic relief. I strongly spoke out against this in the beginning (lol I make it sound like I could have prevented it), but I am pleasantly relieved to have been wrong. It's been a blast to listen to in between games.

The NBA guys actually calling games (Marv Albert) are doing well too. I think Marv can pretty much call anything and do it well, though

"A bunch of average teams with great coaches. Eight Big East teams deserved to be in the tournament, not 11." If FSU knocks out ND, it will indeed be an epic FAIL of the Big East.

I thought Pitino was going to pop a vein right then and there, and I believe Sir Charles actually said "after Notre Dame loses tonight..."...and he was right-- it was great!!!

What barkely has going for him is he speaks his mind and says stuff tha other announcers would think, but not say. He is not afraid to say anything. I did nto hear him do any games...I was outta town and eyeshot of TV from thur Am till sunday night, but I could see him being bad in the booth. It is not as easy as most think it could be.

Probably like berman...I hate him in teh booth. Do not like him on NFL live stuff...but he is tolerable but in the booth his is bad.

Charles Barkley didn't broadcast any games, which is good, because that would kind of be like Rick Pitino trying to win a national championship this year. You stupid, piece of *&#$, Pitino. Thanks a million.

that is the big issue. IF you are not a fan of a certain team or follow them much ya may take what they say is gospel. I have noticed that alot when ONN was doing the state football games and they had JJ on there talking and other talking heads. When they would talk about our school they would have things that were all jacked up...but to the average person who did not know our school they had to take it as a good analysis. Noticed that in the NFL a few yaers ago...but no so much lately as I think the announcers do more game study than they ever did to know the teams in and out.

For them to do games when they dont always cover it....its like Fox doing the BCS games awhile ago. Their announcers didnt know teams in depth.

I didn't catch that exchange with Pitino and Barkley, so thanks for posting that! I think Barkley made some really good points, and proved to be correct.

Obviously Pitino is going to stick up for the Big East, but I love how Barkley didn't kiss his ass just because he was in the room.

This article sums it up perfectly.
Exactly!!! Kenny Smith has trouble using a complete sentence and Barkley just didn't give a shit. He didn't know players' names because he had probably not watched a college basketball game all year. Charles knows the NBA, but he doesn't know college.

Why would Petino agree to go there? If i lost in the first round of the tourney to a team i should have beaten, (although Morehead isn't as bad as people think) I wouldn't want to flash my face on tv to remind everyone of what happened

Publicity...mostly for recruits. Get your face out there as much as possible. In this day and age, it cant hurt.

I also wouldnt doubt that CBS gets the rights to some coaches who exit. IE, give the conference a % of the revenue, and thus the conference can send whatever coach is available to the studio. Thats a guess, but I wouldnt doubt it.

We gave Chuck a lot of shit. But he was spot on with his Big East, Notre Dame, and last nights Duke predictions. He said Arizona was way to quick and athletic for Duke to contain. He might not know the college game/players/teams...but he quickly makes some observations and has been pretty spot on with a lot of them.

Yeah, you can tell he just loves the sport, and because of that, and because he played it so well for so long, he can analyze and get a feel for teams really quick. I think if he stick with it for a few years and becomes more comfortable with teams and players, he could actually be a pretty solid guy on their team.

I agree he knows the game. However, you still cant understand half of his words. His speech is so jumbled and slurred.

I gotta give Barkley credit. He picked UK tonight. I thought OSU would win.

He does get a good feel for players and teams rather quickly.
