Hawks win the season opener for both teams in the battle of Holmes County. Hawks led by who else Kauffman and Boyd and a smothering defense. Knights leading scorer was freshman Keaton Leppla with 7.

Knights have a pretty young team--kinda showed the first quarter, but they played tough and scrappy and held their own except for a few spurts later in the game. Might be a tough year for them in a tough conference, but like the way the coaching staff is working with them. Might take a couple years, but hopefully the WH basketball program can get back to where it was a few years back.
( 300..got the personal delivery of the "hatchet message" ! :) --- thanks, and same to you. best wishes and prayers to your family for this Christmas and beyond.)

I wanted to know if 300 saw that little bit of serendipity with Dylan getting a 3 on a deflected pass. You don't see something like that very often. That and Dylan's dunk was worth the price of admission.

I love how fast Hiland gets up and down the court.

I liked how hard WH played. They have a lot of winners over there coaching. It's only a matter of time before they experience success.

I agree that it may take some time, but I also really like the approach the new staff seems to be taking. Best of luck

Ricola, I'll only be posting the scores that matter to Holmes County, unless someone has done so already. Thanks for the well wishes, and we got an early Christmas present on Tuesday when she received an all clear scan. Good for three months again woo hoo!!!!!

You must be extra proud of the very tall mailman's son!!!!:D

Talking to the kids over the past few weeks, the common response is they enjoy the entire staff. Renner's gonna be fun for the younger kids!!!

and, yup, am proud of all the mailman's kids!

Don't know the new coach at all...just watching him seems like good guy. I know the assistants, and they are good guys. you're right about renner. feel free to post any score you want--always drove me crazy every flippin score always would post, but maybe someone cared...

I really thought WH new coach handled his team well and I liked his demeanor on the sidelines, great staff as well.

I know there are some very talented kids in upper grade school & jr hi coming as well.
The future looks very bright for West Holmes.

There is a nice article in todays Daily Record regarding Dylans recruiting trips to Duke, OSU, and others, to much hassle to paste with my blackberry but easy enough to find.

2 wks is a long time between games, maybe I will have time to get a xmas tree and shop aughhhh.

On a brighter note glad to hear 300's news!
