OK so OSU hires him as Assistant Head coach and he coaches the first 5 games. Braxton Miller leads OSU as the next coming of Chris ..er Tebow to a 5-0 record. Tressel returns in game six to be head coach but gives play calling duties to Meyer. Bollman is banished to work at the Citgo. Pryor is movied to Tight End and forced to only be in on running plays. The Buckeyes then finish the season undefeated beating Florida by 40-3 in the National Championship game.

I'd love to see Meyer become the next head coach at Ohio State. I have the feeling that Tress will pressure them into hiring Fickell though

He stepped down at Florida to spend more time watching his daughters play college sports. One plays volleyball at Georgia Tech, the other at Florida Gulf Coast. Why would he move to Ohio?

It forms a scalene triangle with Bristol, CT. Urban is a notorious sucker for that kind of thing.

"I guess it's been great. I don't know. I've got a knot in my stomach right now, missing it awful bad," Meyer said of his decision to leave coaching.

If Tressel's suspension is similar to Bruce Pearl's suspension for lying, then Tressel will coach 6 days of the week, he just can't have contact with his team on the day of the game. Pearl was allowed to continue to coach his team in every way, except for the day of the game. They broke the same rule, there is no reason to suspect the "coaching" punishment will be any different. BTW 5 games for Tressel is a larger % of a football season than 8 game is for a basketball season.Scarlet_Fever;717114 wrote:OK so OSU hires him as Assistant Head coach and he coaches the first 5 games. A vacation home? A place to stay when he takes in his Ohio State football and basketball games? A great deal in a down market? Ohio State has a volleyball team, maybe a double transfer is in play?

You still haven't figured this out?? Pearl's punishment was HALF OF HIS CONFERENCE SCHEDULE. It was also handed down by the SEC, not the NCAA which will surely add on. It is unlikely that Pearl will be employed by Tennessee next year considering the AD's recent comments. Tressel has now been suspended for one conference game, and his suspension is self imposed. You keep comparing the two as if Tressel's punishment is much worse than Pearl's. While it is a stronger penalty now than it was, the first 4 games don't mean anything towards a conference title. And I know your response will be "One preseason loss in football eliminates you from the National Championship." I will preemptively say that if OSU loses to a team like Toledo or Akron because Tressel is suspended, they aren't going to win the National Championship anyway.

From what I have read, the one daughter just signed a LOI to play at FGCU in November, so why would she leave already?Big Gain;717609 wrote:A vacation home? This is like the time Bill Cowher bought a house in Strongsville. That didn't happen either.

Coach Tressel increased his suspension to 5 games on his own.....partly to show the NCAA he wanted to make it right and hope that they wouldn't hand down more punishment on him. He was originally suspended 2 games.
As for the house rumor.....link please?

You still haven't figured out that Ohio State could be better off with Tressel missing Big Ten games, having someone else call the offense's plays?
You still haven't figured out that the majority of the time the NCAA doesn't "surely add on" when the school/league is proactive and self imposes reasonable punishment?
You still haven't figured out that, the comparison of the 2 is done because the bylaw broken is the same and the occurrences were in the approximate same time period, thus the best comparison to make.
You still haven't figured out that the NCAA doesn't mete out punishment for the purpose of eliminating a team from winning a conference title or post season play?
You still haven't figured out that Tennessee wasn't going to win the SEC title even if Pearl coached every game? And they made the NCAA Tournament.
Please show us where I said Tressel's punishment is "much worse than Pearl's", all I've done is note the difference in the % of games.
You preemption was worthless. You actually thought Ohio State would go undefeated next year with the 5 game suspensions of the players? 5 game suspensions AND 5 games behind their opponents in game experience for the season. Thus it is immaterial which 5 games Tressel misses. If the NCAA's purpose was to eliminate Ohio State from winning a Big Ten Title and eliminate them from contention for a BCS Bowl game, then why didn't they punish the players by holding THEM out of 5 Big Ten games????????

House could be in a trust, house could not be closed yet. That isn't the end all be all to finding someone's house. If I gave you my dad's name and my grandpa's name you would never find their house on there.

Don't forget Miami, Colorado and Michigan St. Sorry, but 5 games in a football season are much more important than 8 conference games in a basketball season, no matter how hard you are trying to make it otherwise. Ohio State missing their heac coach for 5 games could lead them to not only be out of the national title hunt if they lose 1 of them, but also lead to a lesser bowl at the end of the year. Yeah, Pearl was out for 8 conference games, but Tennessee still made the NCAA tournament. I will also add that a head football coach is more important to the game than a head basketball coach. MUCH more strategy and scouting involved in football.
