Ohio State missing their heac coach for 5 games could lead them to not only be out of the national title hunt if they lose 1 of them, but also lead to a lesser bowl at the end of the year. Yeah, Pearl was out for 8 conference games, but Tennessee still made the NCAA tournament. I will also add that a head football coach is more important to the game than a head basketball coach. MUCH more strategy and scouting involved in football.

In reality, it shows that those income tax-free states have higher taxes overall than states that have an income tax. I am not sure he's worried about his taxes. If that were the case, then why isn't everyone living in those few states. South Dakota is pretty barren and there's no income tax here.

Let’s face it, Tressel has lost all credibility and could face massive sanctions once the NCAA is done investigating his role in covering up violations by his players. If the NCAA hammer falls and the Buckeyes struggle this year (and you know they will with quarterback Terrelle Pryor and Tressel suspended for the first five games), the pressure will mount and Tressel will ultimately resign.

Heard someone say that if Pearl would have just been honest in the first place the violations would have been minor. Tressel's initial failure to report would be considered more serious than minor, and then you add the lying to the NCAA.

Bilas was asked about the comparison this morning on Mike and Mike and he said that he likens lying to the NCAA as lying to a grand jury. The NCAA will severely punish those who knowingly lie.

Of course, and at least for now, there’s a big difference between the Pearl and Tressel situations. Much like OSU did, UT resolutely stood behind Pearl, even in the face of intense national criticism, when the lies to the NCAA first surfaced last year. It wasn’t until Pearl and/or his coaching staff committed two additional violations — including one this month – after he was initially busted that the situation changed and the school had almost no choice but to fire the popular hoops coach. As far as what is known publicly, there have been no additional transgressions committed by Tressel since he was first confronted with emails back in January that showed beyond any reasonable doubt that he knew players had received impermissible benefits.

Both lied to the NCAA. Both didn't come forward until getting caught. Tressel already has been determined to be in violation of a 10.1 offense, and Pearl will likely be as well.
