And this is largely unnecessary, to be honest. I agree that cyber crime is still very much a problem, but instead of focusing on streaming sites, I'd suggest putting more effort into stopping identity theft or scams which are so prevalent on the web.

While I agree that our priorities should be greater, I would imagine that the singer/songwriter doesn't appreciate our government allowing his/her product to be stolen, which is definitely the case when someone illegally downloads music.

Let's imagine you have a copyright or a patent on an industrial process which ensures that you will make lots of money for your effort and ingenuity. I decide to rip off your idea and make it work for me, thereby taking money out of your pocket and causing your business to suffer. I charge a lot less for my product, because I didn't have to spend time and money to do R&D. You did that for me, but I decided to use it for my business. Wouldn't you want your government to go after me, to prosecute me? From the tone of your post, it seems that you condone my rape of your hard work.

Which way do you want it? On all fours, or standing up and bent over?

There are far better solutions to these sorts of problems then "wars" and locking people up.

IP Czar is one of the ones that could probably be done away with.

For decades now, Americans have traded liberty for security, all in the name of safety and survival. We allow the police to illegally stop and conduct unwarranted searches of our property with their "sobriety checkpoints" (BTW - the local police reported 7 arrests for possible DUI's out of 3400 cars stopped and searched on St. Patty's day...that equates to a 0.2% effectiveness rate.). We allow judges in Florida to sign warrants to obtain blood from drivers exercising their rights right on the roadside. We allow enforcement of the invasive Patriot Act. We allow outlawing of weapons which are our 2nd Amendment right. We allow sexual molestation of our children whom merely want to fly in an airplane. We allow essentially nude photographs for the chance to board an airplane.

And now, because of perceived intellectual theft, we should all be subject to federal wiretaps. Isn't there something in our distant past that goes something like...."innocent until proven guilty"? Whatever happened to that, anyways? Oh, that's right, we traded that little slogan for Uncle Sam being our protector, provider, guardian, and single source of our being.
