That is a fabulous idea.

A lot of people (mostly people at elite colleges), including me, feel that the site itself was much better when you had to be at an elite college to access it. Letting in the hoi polloi has completely ruined what was once a nice networking tool for the bourgeoisie. Now there are so many low-class proles on it that we members of the intelligentsia are overrun by the rabble.

A tip of the hat to you good sir.

It's one of the two sites I check every night before I go to bed. Helps me go to sleep more light-hearted, and it helps minimize the attention I pay to the tensions and stresses from the day as I prepare for bed.

From the sound of it, she'd be a perfect fit.

4Cards I think you should get an account! If used like some on here probably use it, then yes it'd make you a creeper, but it can be used as an easier way to communicate with friends and family. Who knows 4cards, you might be able to reconnect with some of your high school friends like, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John!

Nah. Facebooks is becoming one, big public square. There are MANY people 50+ who use it even for business networking, keeping in touch with family who live further away, catching up with old friends, getting alerts on local events (their church having a special event, for example), etc.

My church doesn't even use our website anymore. Our Facebook page gets updated daily however.

It's just a more active way to communicate with our members. If we update something on the website, or make an addition to the calendar, people have to go to the website to see it. With Facebook, we post something, it appears on everyone's news feeds. Way more efficient and interactive.

I also have one for my youth group, but don't use it as much. Texting my students is far more effective.

See, it's one thing to make cultural relevance the FOCUS of your church (which I find to be a common problem), but this is merely being culturally relevant to communicate your focus. This is a good thing, and something I can appreciate.

I'm 23 and I deleted that shit 2 years ago after having it for 4 years. I can honestly say I haven't missed it at all, I don't want the hassle of my grandma wondering why I wont add her or other people seeing me in pics being drunkenly hammered. Maybe I'm weird but I can give a fuck less what other people are doing at all times of the day.

You're totally right. We don't have a Facebook page just because it's trendy, we have a page because the vast majority of our members are on Facebook and it's an easier and more efficient way to communicate and interact than email or our traditional website. It's also free, which is great.

I use FB to keep up with my family that lives in California. There are people that abuse/over use it. I have blocked or all together deleted those people. But, it is a good tool for keeping up with those who live far away.
