you don't see schools adding mens sports much these days. hockey is very expensive plus you would need a women's sport added. if they could ever draw a decent number of fans for football and make some money that way then they might consider it.

Graduated from Miami in '07, and became a huge college hockey fan while there. Some of my best memories of Oxford involve time spent with friends at the old and new Goggin.

Will always follow it, watch it, and enjoy it!

Still want to kill myself every time i think about how close Miami came to a national championship a few years ago. Fuck my life.

Enjoy all levels of hockey. Try to catch some on TV when I can but always the frozen four. Few years ago when Miami of Ohio was in teh finals the goalie for the Redskins was a local kid from Celina originally. He had played some roller hockey here and then of course onto ice hockey and had to travel a ton ton for ice time and teams growing up. Was a devastating loss....up two with like 90 seconds to go only to lose in OT.

Frozen Four....in many instance more exciting than the Final Four

I can't wait for the Frozen Four this year. Already have our ticket package. It is in St Paul so we are definitely going.

Michigan
OSU
Michigan State
Wisconsin
Minnesota
*Penn State

Aren't these the only Big 10 Schools with D-I level programs? Teams like Indiana, Ill... have club teams or something or the sort don't they?

If they were to start a Big 10 Hockey League, COULDN'T they have these 6 and add BGSU, ND Miami....? I know it's taken Penn State awhile to move up through the ranks into the CCHA, so it's not like the rest of the Big 10 could just jump on in.

Frozen Four in Columbus in 2005 was great. 4 WCHA teams, Minny, Denver, CC, NoDak. Great Hockey to watch. Shame the Sioux couldn't put it together against Mannino and Denver. That kid was awesome in net.

I think the Big Ten has stated that only schools which are members of all sports would be in a Big Ten conference. Which leaves out BG, ND, Miami. Indiana and Illinois have club teams but I think are still a ways away from moving to D-I.

I would wager that three of the four are in. Michigan and Miami are locks, ND is close to a lock, but Western is right on the bubble in the Pairwise (they're tied for 11th right now). Unless there are some upsets in the conference tournaments I'd look for all Michigan, Miami and ND to be in ... Western would need to win one of their two games to be in.

As of now, here's the tournament field:

Locks:
Yale
North Dakota
Boston College
Michigan
Miami
Denver
UMD
Merrimack
Union

Barring big upsets in the conference tournaments, these teams are in (at-large):
Notre Dame
New Hampshire

RIT is the favorite to win the Atlantic Hockey conference, so I'll put them in. That league is getting one bid as it is.

Which leaves four spots for these at-large candidates (Pairwise in parentheses):
Western Michigan (11th) still has games to play
Nebraska-Omaha (13th)
Colorado College (13th) still has games to play
Dartmouth (15th) still has games to play
Rensselaer (15th)
Boston U (17th)
Maine (18th)

Nope. No sense in me driving 7 hours to the Twin Cities if my team isn't playing in it; I actually haven't been to the Final Five since (I think) 2006 when the Gophers and St Cloud played an absolutely crazy game that ended with SCSU winning in OT. Will likely make it back one of these years but haven't scheduled the time yet.

Damn ok I would say I would have to buy you a burger at Matt's. We will be heading down Friday morning. Hoping UAA beats Colorado College on Thursday.

Matt's is the best ever. I'm jealous. If you're looking for a place to grab a bite between sessions, head over to Mickey's Diner for a Sputnik. That's a pretty good burger as well.

Yah my neighbor and I were talking about Mickey's Diner. Definitely looking forward to the trip hoping to make a repeat trip in a month.

Girlfriend went to Miami (04-07). I remember going to many Old Goggin games. It is my favorite arena. I still remember getting booed so loudly as I had to walk across the Miami student section during an OSU-Miami game to sit with my girlfriend. Plus, the chants were always great. (See you in two minutes asshole, block that shot, s-e-x, score, score, score, etc.)

The new Goggin is nice, just not the same.

The championship game was here in DC. My girlfriend was in town and we were going to go, but tickets were too much (like over $200 per seat). So, we watched in a sports bar, and that is the craziest and loudest I have ever heard her during a sporting event haha. Also, the most profanity I've ever from her lol.

Old Goggin was absolutely amazing.

Loved it when UM and OSU came to town. Best.atmosphere.ever.

I've seen a ton of games at Miami and at Yost in Ann Arbor, but haven't been to very many other arenas. Would love to see some big Minnesota vs. Wisconsin games.
