Yeah, $77,000 fine for being directly responsible for a person's death is stupid. Should be more like $770,000
and I don't get the "I guess Notre Dame values a young man's life at only $77,000"
That is the amount that OSHA fined ND.

the art of trolling includes using factual information. Either that was pure stupidity, or I give the attempt a -5/10

Hell, what we call a straddle buggy (the driver drives it over a bundle of steel and picks up the load of steel from underneath) hit a woman and killed her a couple of years ago. In those, the driver is sitting so high, he can't see what's directly around him at the wheels. Well, the driver had told them that the cameras around the buggy weren't working, the horn didn't work, and the reverse beeper wasn't working for a few weeks, and they never made the repairs. After OSHA completed their investigation, they fined them a whopping $1,000.

Actually the art of trolling uses factual information in a distorted way. I'm well aware that Notre Dame doesn't value the kid at $77,000.
Either way its still a freakin' joke. Maybe $700 million would result in a negligent coach being prevented from ever harming another innocent 20-year. It's sad when even a school that represents Catholicism can't even stand up to the almighty dollar.

Hey dicknose, OSHA fined Notre Dame with the maximum penalty allowed under state law and also found 4 other violations. I don't know how you still don't comprehend that this ruling had nothing to do with Notre Dame. They are doing their own investigation which is ongoing.

I actually agree with sleeper on this one...
It's kind of like what happened a couple weeks ago. This "self motivator" guy is being charged with 3 homicides because he and a bunch of other people were in this sauna and he told no one to leave that they'd be okay. Well, 3 people left in body bags.. he is on trial for 3 counts of murder. (Everyone stayed voluntarily too) But because he was a man of power and respect, people put their trust in him, much like this poor kid put his life in the hands of the coach who ordered him on the tower in unreasonable conditions.
Obviously, both guys feel terrible and directly responsible for the results...but since one is viewed as a quack, he is charged, and the other was just negligent I guess. (no crime in negligence..........)

1. No one killed the kid.
2. The fine is the maximum allowed under state law.
3. Notre Dame has its own investigation ongoing.
4. They will end up paying the family probably ten times what Tressel was fined. It won't be made public so at least you and sleeper will have something to complain about.

It was a knowing violation that directly attributed to the death.
Meaning, that someone was supposed to not let them go up there, and in doing so, caused the death of the worker.

Kelly and Notre Dame killed Declan Sullivan as much as Tressel and Ohio State paralyzed Tyson Gentry.

You're an idiot. Are you just in denial of what the fucking regulators on workplace safety have determined through their thorough investigation? You just believe that no one was supposed to stop him and that here merely went up there on his own and unsafe work conditions did not cause his death?
