Serious question. Not really trying to get GoChiefs and other resident nascar fans' panties in a bunch, but I just wanted to see what people believe, and why they believe that.

I am going to go with no, and I think its a complete waste of gas.

Right, because starting a thread where there isn't many NASCAR fans is going to prove a lot huh? Smh @ your logic.

I gave an option for fans and non fans. So, what you are implying is that only fans of NASCAR believe NASCAR is a sport. Interesting. I know I am not a fan of swimming, but I know it is a sport.

Ummm, no. I'm implying that the ones that know nothing about it believe that. Don't think that was too hard to pick up on?

Like I said there are a lot of sports out there that I don't know about nor am I a fan of, but I still consider them sports.

athlete(noun)
: a person who is trained or skilled in exercises, sports, or games requiring physical strength, agility, or stamina

NASCAR definitely requires physical strength and stamina. The drivers are definitely athletes.

So hunting makes me an athlete, because I am trained and skilled in a sport

If hunting is a sport, yes, by the definition you are an athlete.

No. Note the "physical strength" part in the definition.

Not a sport. IMO a sport something physical that involves an athletic ability. Sure having athletic ability will help you in racing, but I feel it is not a requirement.

And I'm not a NASCAR hater.....I used to like it as a kid...even been to a few races.

Bottom line...its not a sport, its an activity. There are too many variables involved....track, car, pit crew, etc.

So footballs not a sport? Too many variables. Coaching, field conditions, weather...it can all change the outcome of a football game.

What's the "or" prove? I mean, if you want to think hunters are athletes because of that, then have at it.

The "or" means it can be one or the other, doesn't have to be both. Did you never learn the meaning of that word or something?

Strength for what? No powering steering? Big deal, it's not the same type of strength one might need to block a 290 lbs defensive linemen. As for stamina, I hate that argument. They are sitting in a hot car. Congrats. I guess construction workers are athletes too since they need strength to perform their job, and they need stamina to endure that heat over a summer's day of work.

Athletic ability is required in football, not NASCAR.

This is a topic that one must agree to disagree on.

There is no fucking way that anyone can change my opinion that NASCAR is not a sport.

Power steering helps a lot when you are going from 140 mph down to 50 mph into a corner doesn't it? No, not much at all. Sitting in a hot car, for 4 hours, without any breaks. It's not the NFL, they don't get timeouts. I guess those same construction workers have more stamina then NFL players. I mean, they don't get 40-45 second breaks after doing 15 seconds worth of activity.

I don't base my opinion on anything Shaq says, but, for an example, when Shaq says that racing a car is one of the hardest things he's ever done, I'm kind of going to go with his opinion more than someone's on an internet message board. Just sayin'.
