Are you kidding me? Recession over because you now have strip restaurants in your town? Well douche, when you step outside your Ohio bubble, you will know that usually a town is prosperous when a flood of local businesses pop up. Unlike these chain public companies that reflect the health of wallstreet, when local businesses open it means a few things. One, local businesses tend to support the local community and add value to it. For example, providing community support to events and treating their customers and local workers with respect and honest wages. Two, it means local folk have enough money and are willing to take the risk of starting their own venture. Last, these corporations have just been sitting on cash reserves for the past few years eager to invest them somewhere. Unfortunately, i can bet most of the workers in your town have not been stockpiling cash but rather scraping cash together to make ends meet. Well, you will smell the air and ambiance of what Chillicothe prosperity is like when your college educated waiter making 2$ plus tips an hour, no healthcare or 401k serves your food. Enjoy that.

Good work se! You were able to strike a nerve so well that it made ClayAikenation completely drop his persona. Well done!

Now if someone can find that nerve to get Sleeper and Society to drop their crappy internet personalities, I'd be REALLY impressed.

When I see buildings that have been empty for years being remodeled and occupied by businesses(of any nature), I see that as a good sign. Activity breeds activity. I get a kick out of people discounting food service or retail jobs as if they aren't real jobs. These places will give alot of people the opportunity to make some money, something that has been lacking in the past years. Also, as was mentioned earlier, one of the 2 major manufacturing plants is hiring at least 300 people at $20+/hr. Maybe the term "over" was off, but it certainly is getting much better.

I liken someone trying to identify the status of a macro measurement by the characteristics of a single micro economic community to someone telling me the 20 year old car I'm looking to buy is brand knew because it has a new tire on it.
