It seems that Chillicothe is on pace to add alot of jobs, albeit not high paying, before the end of 2011. Slated to open in Chillicothe this year are Longhorn Steak House, Hana Japanese Steakhouse, Five Guys, Gamestop, Christopher & Banks, and more land has recently been purchased for development, but no word on what will occupy the lots. It's nice to see new businesses opening and more job opportunities in the near future. There has also been quite a few empty spaces that have been occupied lately!

Anyone else seeing an increase in development in their town??

wow, gas going up, food prices going up, heating/oil prices going up, wages going down/flat but you can now get a job working minimum wage. Sounds good to me. Who exactly is going to pay all of these taxes when more and more Americans make 20-30,000/year, if that?

Kenworth is also hiring 300-500 $20+/hr jobs in Chillicothe.

We'll just make the rich pay even more of their "fair share." Oops...there goes all those $20,000 a year jobs.

Watched 60 minutes last week about homelessness in Orlando. Check it out and tell me what you think. For certain industries it is over but others are still struggling to stay afloat.

We may continue to have economic troubles in many areas but I thought the recession ended sometime in 2009.

Hopefully for a while. Dad has been there for 15 years and most of the 1000 or so that survived the recession have been there 10+ years. He has said they are looking for mostly younger people for this hiring, so maybe that is an indicator they intend on keeping them for a while.

I checked the Kenworth site and there wasn't anything on there that didn't require experience or at least a degree. Don't see how that really helps.

Not everyone can go to college and I don't know how you're supposed to get experience when all the "entry" level jobs require experience now.

That is not the case. I know many people getting hired there without experience or college education.

Most manufacturers like that don't list entry level jobs. Timken doesn't on their website either, but they are hiring 100+ as well.

The government needs to count those who no longer have unemployment benefits - like my husband. He isn't counted yet he's out of work.

CCRunner - tried to PM you but your mail box is apparently full. My son is a BGSU grad, living in Troy because his fiance' has a really good job there and they've built a house. He is currently commuting to Hilliard and back every day for a job. If you know of any postions, let me know. He's in inside sales right now and does very well. Any job leads in the Troy area would be welcome and appreciated!
