We go to Banfield and love it. Very convenient and we just do our food and toy shopping when we drop our dog off. Their prices are lower than vets around here (Mason/Blue Ash/Loveland area). We've never had to do anything other than normal shots and 1 antibiotic for an eye infection. I think it's about $30 a month, have to check with the wife. $456 sounds high.

Feeder Creek was the one I was referring to. Lady I know in Millersport area has a bunch of pits and she takes them there. I'm just on the skirts of Lancaster.

LJ can you recommend a good vet in the Toledo area. I have been taking my 2 year old Labradoodle to Banfield but with what I am reading on here I think I should switch. I have no clue as to any vets in the Toledo area. Thank you.

eh, I don't really know any in toldeo. I think there is a guy that my fiancee follows on Twitter that has a clinic in Toldeo that does a lot of research and community stuff, but i don't know his name off the top of my head. I'll look it up tonight.

We take our dogs to my wife's uncle and cousin who are both vets. But rest assured we don't take them there because we get some kind of friends and family discount, we don't. They are probably the best small animal vets in the area.

The other I like is in Wayne County. I went to high school with the vet, and my parents take their dog there. He's great with her.

Not what you expect from a former fullback who had a rushing record.

Yeah I also didn't think anyone who played football at Smithville was smart enough to become a vet either.

Yeah Rascal unit is good. their prices are so cheap because they work off of grants and private donations. their building was donated, much of their equipment was donated, the employees are paid under the non-profit etc etc.

What is the average or fair going price for an "office visit" at a Vets?

yea she originally got the dog from them he was a rescue dog...he and his family were found living in an abandoned warehouse downtown they were featured on the news and she called and got the dog about a week later. he was staying with a volunteer a few hours away who not only made the trip to inspect her house and other dog, and allow the dogs to meet, but also met her halfway a few days later to deliver the dog. there are so many animal lovers in ohio that do a lot for stray dogs and cats to try to keep them out of shelters or getting put down.

Funny. We thought the same thing about Triway, which is why my parents moved me out of the school district. They didn't want me going to Shreve Elementary anymore. It was bad for my educational development.

well the exam chage is usally like $28-$40

Then you have your treatment costs on top of that such as your vaccines and so on

Ryan Lukens who played fullback and linebacker for OSU is in vet school at OSU.

Just for the visit? My vet charges $41.

I had my lab neutered there, with a laser procedure and it in total it was $190. Just for the procedure, of course the rest of that visit cost me almost another $200.

Last week I had to put my 5 year old Golden down. Loved Baxter my friend and pal when I was outside working … always by my side..

Four factors played in to the equation:
1. Potential for the dog to go into a heart failure (during surgery and after) ..
2. Potential that the damage once inside was to much
3. Potential that the dog had tumors / something else ..I can remember
4. Fee $7000.00

1-3 had no guarantees of knowing the future, number 4 was for sure successful or not…

If I would had dog insurance it would have been covered …85 % or more
I have had 5 Golden in my family life time ..over 40 years. This was the first time something so major happen and we where helpless. I would have spent the $7000.00 but 1,2, 3 didn’t add up to success. I think that the Vet place a high figure on the operation because of the potential failure .. that what I’m telling myself

After spending almost $5,000 on my 3 dogs last spring, you better believe I got pet insurance now.

I don't know much about the vets in your area but be careful with the insurance plans as the do have a lot of stipulations about what they consider pre existing.We use a card called care credit and they let you make monthly payments with no interest on all procedures.It has been nice for big procedures.
