Do you use any type of pet insurance or wellness plan? where is a good place to get affordable vet services? My girlfriends dog went to the vet to get some type of wart/growth removed from lip and they said it would be around 750 dollars. they offered a yearly wellness plan that would be about 450 dollars. Any suggestions?

Where do you live? We take our puppy to a local vet and though we've never had anything but shots and neutering I'm sure she'd let us make payments if something drastic happened.

she wouldve stayed with them and bought the plan...but they upset her. she was there for a consult which was 36 dollars. when they were done they were still trying to figure the price for the procedure and if it would be cheaper or not to just buy the yearly plan. they told her to just go home and they would call her. so she paid the 36 and left assuming whatever she chose that the 36 would go toward the plan or bill i guess. she was pulling out of the parking lot and they told her the deal. so she was like ok ill come back in and just buy the plan. they replied that because she left the 36 was now non refundable at this point. so she came home crying. she is very frugal and although i dont see it as a big deal 36 dollars is infuriating to her and so i said i would find her a vet or some plan today that would solve her problem.

Banfield's contracts for veterinarians that their job is 40% practicing medicine and 60% sales. There are plenty of local veterinarians that will offer more reasonable services. I don't really know any on the west side of town, but I know lots of good clinics on the east side of town.

We don't have anything like that, but we take all three of our dogs to Medina (about 40 minutes away) when they need a vet, because the vet there is fantastic (Dr. Pepin at Tender Loving Care Animal Hospital).

that was just the office visit charge. Any vet is going to charge that.

yea she understood that but they told her if she hadnt left outside the doors it wouldve been included if she bought the yearly plan, but since she went outside(which they told her was ok) now its not included..literally 5 minutes went by according to her

I take both of my dogs to a vet in plain city. One weighs 15 lbs and the other ways 50 lbs. I used to take the little dog to a different vet and I can get everything for both dogs from the new vet for less than the little dog used to cost at a regular vet.
He's an old farm vet and a little rough, but if cheap is what you're looking for then send me a PM and I'll give you his number. It shouldn't be too far to travel from Hilliard.

Those guys are usually pretty good, just gotta watch them because they will treat EVERYTHING with steroids. well basically the dog needs to be put under anesthesia(sp?) to get the wart burned off...so it will need to be a vet who does surgeries and with the expense of that i also am exploring yearly vet insurance plans as well.

There is a guy in Hilliard that specializes in veterinary dentistry. You should get the dog into him for a dental cleaning (which I am sure the dog needs) and have him lop off the growth while the dog is under for the dental.

We take our dogs to the vet just down the street. They are extremely convenient, seem to be reasonably priced, are really nice, and know us and the dogs by name. We looked into insurance when one of our dogs started having seizures but it wouldn't have covered that so we don't plan on getting insurance for them.

Got insurance on my pit because I have to. The pomerainian not so much.
Need to get the pit spade heard about a place in Buckeye Lake thats pretty good about dealing with pits and is reasonable.

No pet insurance here - his normal checkups and medicine run about $400/year, if something happens we'll take care of it. He sprained his ankle a few weeks ago and the trip to the puppy ER was about $100 + $20 or so for the antibiotics. We've considered pet insurance, but financially it doesn't make sense if your pet is relatively healthy and not in an environment prone to accidents.

Most likely the place is Feeder Creek I am assuming. I think one of the owners just has an interest in the breed.

well if you spend 400 a year already you might be a good candidate for their wellness plan it was like 456 and would pretty much make everything your dog would need free.
