My son will be in the 7th grade does anyone know what weights of the shot and discus are.

shot was 8lbs when I threw in 8th grade doubt it changed. I can't remember the disc either, did you try google?

High School
Discus- 3.53 lb/1.6 kg (boys)-------2lbs, 3.27 ounces/1 kg (girls)
Shot- 12 lbs/5.443 kg (boys)-------8lbs, 13 ounces/4 kg (girls)
Junior High
Discus- 2lbs, 3.27 ounces/1 kg (boys)------2lbs, 3.27 ounces/1 kg (girls)
Shot- 8lbs, 13 ounces/4 kg (boys)-------6lbs/2.744 kg (girls)

That is it. It is unfair that the womens weight does not increase after high school.

Then why does the mens wieght have to change. They do not compete against each other. There is a huge differnce in throwing a 1.6k disc and a 2k disc. Women can just muscle the light weights out there.
