From John Fay:
Lineup Sunday’s tomorrow’s 1:05 p.m. spring opener:
6 Drew Stubbs, cf
4 Brandon Phillips, 2b
19 Joey Votto, 1b
27 Scott Rolen, 3b
32 Jay Bruce, rf
31 Jonny Gomes, lf
16 Edgar Renteria, ss
55 Ramon Hernandez, c
15 Fred Lewis, dh
56 Matt Maloney, LHP
Edinson Volquez, scratched because of visa issues, will throw to minor-league hitters at 11:30 a.m.
Looks like an opening day starting line-up to me. What kind of stupid message is it sending to Paul Janish! Did they really tell Renteria he was the starter like Renteria claimed right after the signing?

Kind of suprised tht Dusty would throw tht out there right at the beginning. Most managers spring lineups never even closely resemble what they'll do during the year

Wish the game was on TV. I swear the MLB/fox sports really under utilizes spring training. I'd love to be able to watch it on TV today

Question...for those of you with DISH HD....are they going to show the Reds in HD or are they going to show them on 425 and 427 and not 425 HD or 427 HD? They do that with the Cavs and with their basketball games they show.

Sappelt
Phillips
Votto
Hermida
Lewis
Francisco
Heisey
Hanigan
Janish
Cueto
Very excited to see Sappelt. I've only seen him once at a Bats game last year, can't wait to catch him in Louisville several times this season. I hope he's the answer to a real leadoff hitter in 2012.

Just was going to post the lineup. It's a split squad game for the Reds with the other "half" playing the A's.

I think MLB has the rights to spring training. They want people to buy their product. Not sure when that contract ends, because Im with you. Im not buying any MLB producut I dont already get just for ST.

Oh and the Reds batting practice jerseys aka the ST unis are the best in the bigs.

On the left....One BP jersey I do like: the Reds (the BP is the script “Reds” on the left). That’s what a BP jersey should look like. Kinda whimsical. And never to be worn during a real game. Ever.

Sappelt stole 2nd on a swinging strikeout by Phillips then Votto dribbled one up the middle on an 0-2 count for a single to score Sappelt.

I think those jerseys look hideous. They debuted them at Redsfest to a very poor reaction. The best description I heard was they look like a cheap jersey you would find at walmart.

Which is what a batting practice is supposed to look like.

Does Hermida have a chance to make the big league roster this year?? I turned my sound back on just as finished saying something about him...

I guess, if they were looking for a whimsical jersey I would have like to see Mr Red or Mr Redlegs on the front, not sure if they are allowed to do that though.
Hermida has very little chance without injuries.

Adding Fred Lewis to the mix probably hurt Hermida's chances. They already have Gomes, Lewis, and Heisey. They re-signed Gomes and Heisey is a young guy with upside, so the only other opening would be if the Reds got rid of Lewis.

Sappelt with a homer, single, and 2 runs scored in the Bengals 15-2 loss to the Packers.
If he keeps it up he's going to force his way onto the club.
