The 2009 draft class has been bad for the most part, so I'm not sure how that's a good argument. Griffen was the obvious #1 pick (which this draft doesn't have), and after that you have a handful of average to solid players. There are only something like 7-8 players from that entire draft class starting for NBA teams (depending on if Lawson starts over Felton in Denver now). The 2008 draft has that many players starting from the top 10 picks alone.

Blake Griffin, James Harden, Tyreke Evans, Ricky Rubio, Stephen Curry, Demar DeRozan, Brandon Jennings were in the top 10 of the 2009 draft. I would love for 2 of those guys to be on the Cavs right now.

yeah, 2009 wasnt a good draft. Curry, Evans, and Jennings were the 3 (other than Griffin) who most people viewed as being the next best. Well, they have been solid and shown signs, but not much else. The rest of that class is weak. The Cavs dont have a Griffin to draft, and if they land the overall #1, you have Perry Jones, Irving, ???. Then with the next top 10 pick who? Are any of these guys going to even be better than Evans or Jennings? I would have my doubts. Now, they could end up being great and the class could be very deep. You could land 2 AS players. But going in, their is no clear #1 for them to be hoping for, and it isnt deep to the point where Id be excited about who we draft at #7 (like in 2008, for example).

Lots of chatter that Cavs guard Anthony Parker could be on way to Celtics. Not sure just yet how authentic it is.

I don't disagree that this draft has the perception of being weak. Obviously we won't know for sure until a couple years down the road. But even if the draft is weak. Would you take 2 of the better players from the '09 top 10 (not named Griffin) and add them to another potentially top 8 pick in what is projected to be a strong draft in 2012? Plus the Cavs still have until July to make a play with their TPE.

It would be nice if the Cavs could somehow snag Irving and Perry Jones!! I also wouldn't mind getting Terrence Jones. They need a long athletic wing.

They are taking bids on Anthony Parker. He will go to the highest bidder before the 3pm deadline.

Absolutely, but Im saying, I dont think this class is as good as even a weak 09 class. I liked Curry, Evans, and Jennings (and Rubio though he hardly counts at the moment) more than anyone in this draft except maybe Irving (but he has played in like 3 games lol). Im just not sold on whoever they get at #1 being worthy of #1 or panning out because there isnt the sure-fire and after that, itll be a crapshoot. There will be some good players, there always are, but will the Cavs make the right choice? It isnt a deep class where at #7 you could take any of 4 and they would all be decent. This year, at #7 you might land the right guy but its a complete toss up.

In general, its a great trade...getting 2 top 10s is awesome. But just in my opinion, its terrible luck that they have the weakest draft in years to have those picks. I guess thats just Cleveland though lol.

That would be great, but they are more likely to miss out on both than snag both imo.

Terrence Jones is a big ? to me. I havent been impressed when I watch him at UK (at least for the NBA). But I also though Jared Jeffries would be a stud lol.

It depends on how you look at the draft. For one, we have no idea who's coming out yet. If players like Sully and Irving don't come out, then the draft gets even weaker.
But it also depends on what the Cavs are looking for. As far as quality big men go, yeah i'd say this draft is pretty weak in that aspect, but when you look at the guards available i'd say there is a good amount of talent at those spots.

I dont think it was that bad. I think guys like Holiday and Collison are solid, young players. Maybe this class has the next "guy" maybe it doesnt. I still think Irving would be viewed as that guy if he was healthy.

Also, what about Derrick Williams? He's been getting some hype lately, but I haven't seen him play very much. nbadraft.net has him projected as the #1 pick right now.

Eh...were it a great draft year they probably wouldn't have ended up with it or likely would have over paid, basically a wash. I'd much rather have the opportunity than not.

After this trade...I don't see how we don't win out. Baron Davis and his gorgeous beard will take us to the promiseland.

Bad news. Davis said he was shaving the beard, wants a "fresh start"

With the Celtics and Bulls still in the hunt for Anthony Parker, source says two Western Conf. dark horses have emerged.

Derrick Williams, Perry Jones, Kyrie Irving, Jared Sullinger, Harrison Barnes, Terrence Jones.

You give me 2 of those guys and I'll be ecstatic. Then, we'll suck in 2011 and get another lottery pick.

Basically, the way OKC did things. Obviously there is no Durant, but that doesn't mean none of these guys emerge once in the NBA. We see it happen all the time.

This shit is really starting to heat up nearing the clock. RCF keeps crashing with these potential deals nearing the deadline.
