Tis' the season when teams have settled into their own little pits of dispair. Might be some good gigs available this spring. Seems like a lot more potential movement than usual...thought I'd throw together a quick list for comparison later. Feel free to add if I overlooked any top performers.

ACC:
Sidney Lowe, NC State - He must have pictures of someone to still have a gig this long.

Paul Hewitt, Georgia Tech - Living off the Title Game years back....losing to Kennessaw State aint' cutting it.

B10:
Bill Carmody, Northwestern - a dozen years, no NCAA. Folded like a petunia in conference play.

SEC:
Trent Johnson, LSU - Seriously, WTF has happened to LSU?

Andy Kennedy, Ole Miss - Only news in 5 years is his arrest. No excuse to be 6 games back in that dreadful SEC West.

John Pelphry, Arkansas - I thought he'd get canned last year.

Bruce Pearle, Tennessee - He's working with no contract. Impending NCAA bid or not, they go before the infractions committee in June. Never know

Rick Stansbury, Mississippit State - what a mess...

PAC10:
Herb Sendek, Arizona State - Last place in the conference aint' cutting it.

Craig Robinson, Oregon State - maybe having Obama as his brother in law will keep him in the position for another year?

Jim Boylen, Utah - I'll put them here since they start Pac 10 play next year. At 11-15, expect a change heading to the new conference.

Big12:
Pat Knight, Texas Tech - they have become a non-entity since his dad retired.

BE:
Not much here because of all the changes last year. I'm sure someone will say Mick Cronin at UC but I don't think he is going anywhere.

I don't think Sendek will get canned over 1 bad year. And I'm pretty sure Paul Hewitt has a clause in his contract preventing him from ever being fired. I don't think Carmody will get fired either.

I also don't think all 5 of those SEC guys you listed get canned, but they probably all should be.

I think Keno Davis is on the hot seat in the Big East. 15th in the conference last year, 14th this year, no NCAA bids in 3 years and no improvement shown.

Paul Hewitt won a tournament game last year and was in ACC title game as well.

He isn't going anywhere. His only issue is keeping the great players he gets. Favors one and done, Javaris Crittendon, Lawal leaving early. What else do you do?

I'll chime in on the SEC coaches mentioned.

Andy Kennedy, no chance. He is the best they can get down there and he is a personal hire of that administration. He is a solid recruiter and underrated coach. His job is safe.

Trent Johnson, no chance. He was hired in an "up" year and they expected a big decline last year. This year's team was expected to compete but lost their leading scorer to academics (Bo Spencer) and their 2 top recruits to DNQ's. He is playing with a depleted roster but there is a ton of talent in the area and Johnson is bringing it in.

Rick Stansbury, possible. Arguments for him are that he has accomplished a decent amount at MSU including making the NCAA's more often than not. He's the longest tenured coach in the league outside of Billy Donovan and the school has had other stretches where they have underachieved, rebuilt and turned it around quickly. The question now becomes, is this his pattern? Off the court issues have been rampant there and they are famous for being one of those schools many players transfer into and out of, a revolving door of sorts (a laundry list of former Bulldogs could make up a solid current team).

John Pelphrey, most likely. Listen, I'm a Pel fan, but he's had ample chances at Arkansas. For a few years now, he's brought in the next class that was supposed to "start the turn around." Next year he has a good class, and they return a lot, but if he is retained (and that's a major if), it will be with winning expectations next year and I'm not sure he can handle that. Alabama will be the hands down favorite in the SEC (West likely) next year but Pelphrey and Arkansas along with LSU will be right there with them. Can he handle the high expectations? My guess is no, and if there is any way they could snag Mike Anderson away from Missouri, he would be in Fayetteville with a blank check as we speak.
