I wonder if Broussard heard this from a server at a resteraunt in NJ. SMH. BSPN's NBA beat writers are terrible.

Wish it would gave happened a few weeks ago. I lost all respect for Williams after basically forcing Sloan into retirement.

I'd be happy as a Nets fan as Deron Williams > Melo.

Three team trade:
NJ gets Williams from Utah, Gadzuric and Wright from Golden State
Jazz get Favors and Harris, and two first-round picks
Warriors get Murphy

Warriors got the shaft lol

And honestly, the Jazz made out. Favors is a young kid who has a very high ceiling and 2 picks. Plus Harris is definitely more than serviceable.

IMO Deron Williams is a much better basketball player than Carmelo Anthony. A great PG is more valuable than a stat sheet volume scorer who in completely uninterested in playing defense. Williams is a top 5 player in the league, while Melo is a ~ top 15-20 player.

I dont understand this trade from the Warriors perspective. I thought Wright has been playing great for them all season.

Melo is better than top 15-20. Williams is very good, but top 5?

Yeah, it makes no sense to me. They lose 2 players who are playing well and get NOTHING.
New Jersey also will get Dan Gadzuric and Brandan Wright from Golden State, which will buy out Murphy, sources said. Murphy is considering signing with Boston, Miami or Orlando once his buyout is complete.
So they probably won't even get Murphy lol

I think you're in the minority on that one. I'll take Melo any day and twice on Sunday over Deron Williams.

I'll agree he is a top 5 pg but not top 5 player. Carmelo is a top 7 or 8. Williams isnt in the top 15.

And it's becoming more evident to me that Williams cares more about Williams then winning.

I'll take Chris Paul or Derrick rose or even rondo over Williams.
Rondo is a reach probably. But not the other two.

But it's your opinion against mine.

When Wright was mentioned for Golden State I was thinking Dorell Wright which would have made even less sense.

If I were starting a team from scratch, Id take Williams over Anthony. Scorers that dont play defense are easier to find than quality point guards.

Deron Williams and Rose are the top PGs in the league in my opinion. Both make my top 5 along with Durrant and LBJ. My 5th slot is debatable but I tend to put Chris Paul there. Kobe obviously is right there as well.

+1 as would anyone who watches and know the NBA outside of a fantasy/stat sheet perspective.

Hes more valuable to a team depending on what position you need...but as an overall player Melo is def better than top 15, hes at least 5 spots above Williams

Kobe
Rose
Wade
Lebron
Howard
Durant
Not in order at all, but off the top of my head those are the only players above Melo, im sure i missed 1 maybe 2 players, but id love to see 14 players listed better than Melo
