Cochran is a tough kid. He has lost two very close "go to" matches the past 2 years. He seemed very focus at the sectional tourney and had an obvious game plan for Stevens. It obviously worked as he beat him and 2 weeks prior at the GWOC tourney he was teched by stevens in the 2nd period. He is hungry to wrestle at the state tourney, and if he remains as focus as he was at the sectional tourney then i believe he will win the district.

Cochran was teched by Stephens at the GWOC or the other way? Or was that another match.

And I thought I was spending a lot of time thinking about wrestling this week! Interesting factoids, Cruiser!

All three were decked, too, had the assistant ref been able to get down in time! (Please see the Officiating in Central Ohio thread for reference.)

Stevens teched Cochran at the GWOC finals. 16-1.

Allegedly, these matches are taking place. If they do, I'd love to see them. But, as it stands, there are only three first round matches I have seen that are real.

DUDE!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! That match is gonna be SWEEEEEEEEEEET!!! Actually. I think Ryan is coming off of injury putting him at less than 100%. Jake is rather good. Forrider is Andrews Trained though, so someone HAS to have the advantage. So, with the injury, and Andrews Trained... Advantage Forrider.

But again, that's just a rumor that those two are wrestling. I'm still trying to figure out why we have to be there so early with only three matches being wrestled. :shrug:

Bummer about the injury, i was wondering as much with the 4th finish at sectionals, that was a crazy stacked weight though, so its understandable, good luck to Ryan, hope he battles through

Ladies and gentlemen!!! Distinguished guests and casual observers...

We have been presented to us a tremendous privilege and honor. The chance to stand alongside our student-athletes, and cheer as tribute of their efforts, sacrifice and talents. This weekend will be the end for some, and just the beginning for others.

For those that see their high school wrestling careers come to an end, do know that you have battled and defeated some of the greatest obstacles you will ever encounter. Things you have hopefully learned as you have overcome these obstacles can be used in life. Things like self-discipline, a positive attitude, character, responsibility, teamwork, goals (among other things)... these, as you will see, will serve as proving grounds for that boss, that work assignment, or any other of life's many mines you will encounter. To steal a quote from Dan Gable, "Once you've wrestled, every else n life is easy."

For those that will use this weekend as just a beginning, your Saturday will be finished with the words, "To Be Continued..." Whether it be over the next couple of years, or on into next week, we will see you then.

I always try to eat crow when I'm wrong (which is often). I wanted to take this opportunity to say that Cameron Longwell is better than Logan Strope. I was one who said over and over on these forums that Longwell's win at Districts last year was a fluke and due, in large part, to Strope not being able to recover from his semi-final loss (at the buzzer, on a suspect call). Well, this year they met in the semis and I watched from start to finish. Longwell was the better guy. Longwell was now beaten Strope twice in matches that really matter...And clearly, it's no fluke.

On a related note, Strope seems to have more difficulty than most recover from losses. I get that the semi-final loss is a tough one to take, but to be be pinned twice after that by kids you "should beat" just should never happen to a kid with the skills that Strope has.

I agree on the Strope thing. I feel bad for him. But you know what? Pity won't keep you warm at night or put food in your belly. You can go fetal and die or start working for next year right now.

Excuse me BITTER, but are you really one to knock a kid for "not being able to recover from a loss"? I mean, you are BITTER !

Officiating every year at time becomes and issue. Each year officials call stalling more often. Just let the kids decide the match!!

In your defense, it was in the championship bracket, your last high school match. so you cant actually recover from it
