I don't think lawyers can offer legal advice on messege boards, other than go see a lawyer.

That's kind of true. We can provide general advice that isn't specific to an individual, but anything beyond that risks establishing an atty-client relationship. My malpractice carrier (and my firm, for that matter) isn't too keen on opening up liability for casual advice given on a website without pay--it's all the risks of legal advice (from malpractice) without any of the positives (like getting paid to compensate for the risk).

Generally, I think most attys are willing to give an overview of the law and legal practice in broad strokes without getting into specifics. But beyond that, you'll probably need to consult your own attorney.
