I dont know about that. I dont think it should be a week to week thing, but I certainly think you have to look at how a team has been playing for the last month or so. Texas, right now, is the last team I would want to play. I currently think they are the toughest and best team in the country. Resume isnt ahead of OSU, or Kansas (despite beating them) or even maybe a Duke or Pitt...but they have been #1 for the last month, have they not?

When compared to Texas, no.

The Longhorns have run a truck over their Big XII competition over the last 10 games, winning all by an average of 17 points per game, including a double-digit victory at #1 Kansas (which, as has been mentioned here 66,000 times in 24 hours, snapped a 69-game Allen Fieldhouse home winning streak).

Ohio State, on the other hand, has looked much less dominant. A single-digit win over Michigan, a one-point win at Northwestern, a three-point win against Penn State (in Columbus), a four-point win at Michigan, and then the loss at Wisconsin.

Texas has been the best and is the top team in the country at this point.

I know I'm kicking a dead horse as it is something to discuss, but it doesn't matter. The selection committee doesn't care where teams are ranked all season, they go by rpi etc...the voters don't have to get it right. Unlike the BCS in football, which uses polls partially in their selection, the polls in the NCAA BB are relatively worthless, so much less thought goes into a voters selection. A few minutes of sportscenter while they're putting on their socks is about the extent of the interest a majority of them need to invest in putting forth a vote. I know we all know this but it seems like it's forgotten from time to time.

Very true. But they should take their job much more seriously.

No, Texas has looked about unbeatable, which I cant say for OSU (NW, Wisky, UofM, etc). Texas in that span has their most recent game versus Baylor, a 9 pt win, as their closest game.

Honest question, because they havent been on TV much, how many games have you seen of theirs the last month or so? OSU has looked very vulnerable at parts of games, and though they have still won and looked very good. Texas has been absolutely dominant. They went/have gone like 8 games without trailing and I think are averaging wins of like 78-62 or something.

They do....coaching their Division 1 basketball team. I dont even understand why we have a Coaches Poll. Just stick with the Associated Press Poll. ESPN needs their name on it though.

Another comparison on OSU/Texas: Two of Texas's best players, Triston Thompson and Cory Joesph played together for Findlay Prep in high school. They were manhandled by Sullinger and Co. just last year. They have also faced All-Ohio Red (Sullinger and Craft AAU team) and were beat as well. I know, it's a different level of ball now. But if OSU played Texas I would feel more confident in OSU knowing that the core of our team has regularly put a beating on the core of Texas's team in the past.

So a team is more unbeatable with 3 losses than 1 to a top 10 team away?

The OSU haters are out in full force today. It's cool though, everyone hates the best.

Well, when you consider how much margin for error Michigan State had in regards to being ranked....it's not a surprise. Furthermore, they were what, 13th last week and lost to two top 15 teams, one at home and one on the road? I don't think it was necessarily warranted to drop them 10+ spots in the polls for that. 20th sounds about right to me.

There is no Kentucky game thread, so I will leave my comment here. WTF was ESPN thinking by deciding to broadcast the entire UK-Miss St. game from the ceiling? My God, ESPN, quit trying to be inventive. You're a sports network, not HGTV on LSD.

They are blowing out every team not as good as them by double digits, a lot of times by 20. Beat Kansas in Lawrence. What do you want us to do, so they they aren't playing well? Lol

To nit pick a bit...4 of those wins were vs the two worst teams, that they happen to play twice pretty quickly....TT and OKL. Comparable to Iowa and IU in Big Ten.
