Budget is due out on Monday, Valentines Day.

Belly: Odd, so is this a good thing or bad thing? I see the cuts are needed.

It's a good thing, but if that is all he going to cut then he might as well not bother.

As long as he can rail against Obama, Belly is a happy man. The specifics of what he says are irrelevant, only the garbled message of "I hate Obama" comes through.

I’m not a heartless bastard. I know poor been there, done that. There are programs that benefit the poor so they can rise above poverty there are program that enable the poor and needy and elderly to eventually move from welfare. If they work and try… (there is where the failure is) “Poor people are poor because they want to be poor”

The Obama Administration has a shit load of meaningless wasteful spending program other than LIHEAP. If Obama dump ½ of his czar and their staff and the 1.5 Million on teaching Arabic program in public school (which bring up the funding for Federal Department of Education worthless group) the LIHEAP would not have to be cut at all.
But hey! Go for it Obama ……. come next election this issue will come around again.

In my opinion, the issue for the next election will be jobs and the economy, not cutting 1.5 million on any program. Besides, the House is going to cut $500 billion in spending. Wait a minute, now it's $100 billion. Hold the phone, now it's $32 billion.

Hey, before they get done maybe that 1.5 million isn't so far-fetched after all.

There's a paper out by Cornell Politically scientist Suzane Mettler which examined people who benefitted from government programs and sought determine how many of these people considered themselves to have used a government program.

Suzanne Mettler, “Reconstituting the Submerged State: The Challenge of Social Policy Reform in the Obama Era,” Perspectives on Politics (September 2010): 809.

I've highlighted the "programs" in which I've participated. I wouldn't necessarily consider the ones I've participated in as "social programs." Social programs has a "public handout" or welfare ring to it.

The way I view G.I. and veterans benefits is that these were simply part of the compensation package the government offered in exchange for my military service. I gave the Feds 9 years of my life. In exchange they agreed to give me financial assistance for my education and securing a low-interest, no down payment home loan.

With regard to the child care, student loan, and mortgage interest deduction "programs" I see these as legitimate tax benefits to our bizarre "progressive" tax system....again NOT social programs.

Oh and these "programs" were used long before BHO was even on the national political map.

I'm not certain where you were headed with this Boatshoes. Can you elaborate?

While not a veteran myself, I've long thought that our government never went far enough to assist veterans once they left the service. believer is 100% correct when he says that it was part of the compensation package. Hell, it's part of the recruitment message. Definitely not a social program, but more like a contract. I'd still like to see more benefits available for vets.

Budget released 10:30 today:
Already pledges to cut 1.1 trillion over 10 years.
Not as far as some would like though.

A paltry $110B per year. What a joke. When it comes to the economy, BHO is a bigger failure than ever feared.

One increase in this year's budget is nuclear weapons infrastructure, 1.9 billion this year, with a pledge of $85 billion over 10 years. From the OMB:

Modernizes the Nation’s Nuclear Weap*ons Arsenal, Reduces Proliferation Risks, and Maintains a Strong Strategic Deterrent. The Administration proposes $11.8 billion in new budget authority for the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), $1.9 billion more than the 2010 enacted level. The overall invest*ment includes $7.6 billion for Weapons Activities, an increase of $1.2 billion over the 2010 enacted level, to maintain a safe, secure, and effective nu*clear arsenal by improving and replacing aging facilities and infrastructure, continuing nuclear weapon life extension programs, and sustaining stockpile surveillance and certification activities. This is the first of a multi-year effort, consistent with the report on the nuclear weapons infra*structure submitted to the Congress in Novem*ber 2010.

A budget of over 3.7 Trillion dollars is supposed to somehow reduce the deficit? Does Obama think we're all idiots? Apparently he didn't get the message about drastically cutting spending. We are still borrowing over 1.6 T for this budget, not acceptable.

Typical politician. Spend like there is NO tomorrow until it can have a negative impact on his re-election. Then masquerade as being fiscally conservative in an attempt to secure some of the independent vote in 2012. Can America survive a second BHO term when he will have no reason to change his strips to please and he will be out to carve his legacy of socializing America? The repubs have to win the senate majority if for nothing else but to block BHO's second term agenda if he were to win.

Nothing like typical political double talk BS. Obama administration will be spending over 1.6 Trillion more than it takes in, yet they have a news story about him "cutting" spending. Man, got to love that book keeping. The problem is stupid Americans will read this and think Obama is actually tackling the debt problem.

For all of you that believe Obama "got" the message delivered to his hind quarters on November 2, 2010, here's a reminder that once a socialist spendaholic....always a socialist spendaholic - http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2011/feb/14/debt-now-equals-total-us-economy/

What a maroon. He is not a fiscal conservative. He is a Krugman acolyte, only he has absolutely no idea what he's doing. Just do a little math...in 2015, his own budget is projecting a $21,000,000,000,000 national debt. The Fed will have to sell bonds to finance this debt (a/k/a debt service). They typically use 3-month T-bills, which pay every 90 days, or within the budget year. So, if T-bills are going for a historically-low 5%, then our supreme smartest elitist leaders will be writing checks over $1,000,000,000,000 in fiscal year 2015 to entice people to invest in T-bills. To put it another way, it's about 30% of today's total budget. 30 cents out of every dollar goes up in flames and everyone swoons over this Turd-In-Chief. This trillion dollars will purchase NOTHING, other than the ability to DO IT MORE. This is only 4 years away!!! We either stop the bleeding ourselves, or it will be done for us.

Can anyone get in Mr. Christie's ear...today?

Quaker - Does anyone read this stuff? Do people realize that "New bank taxes totaling $33 billion over ten years" is paid by THE BANK'S CUSTOMERS??? Ditto for the life insurance taxes, the energy taxes, and on and on and on. This class warfare shit is so fucking old. This all goes away with a consumption tax and the lobbyists/lawyers/IRS/accountants whom have been sucking on this gubmint tit for decades will be cut off their manna.

The take home is that the government demands another $1,500,000,000,000 be confiscated from Americans (whom have no fucking clue on how to spend their own money) and poured into the fed's coffers to spend spend spend spend spend spend. This is complete insanity and we'll find some posters on here in a little while that totally agree with all of this lunacy. I think it was de Tocqueville that said America would be devoured from within. He was spot on.

Sorry! But a troll does not create Threads of important topic of the day and subject matter interesting to knowledgeable poster. I also post with links, wisdom, astute information and facts (sometimes) those are not the characteristic of a troll.

A troll could be best described as one who add nothing of intelligence to treaded, does not hold the subject matter in context, inflammatory message runs away from the topic like a pussy, and can only make comment about others with worthless drool. Case in point of Bigdogg and butt buddy stlouiedipalma :)

His hardcore base of supporters are going to stick with him, regardless. In fact, this is exactly the kind of government expansion those folks like -- even if it is the IRS. They'll expect those extra workers to go after the "rich" so it won't be affecting most of them.
