Here's my current setup...

That's a 30" monitor in the middle. I basically want to invest in another monitor screen that's about 24" and I would like to position it above my current setup. I've talked to a few friends, and a lot of their suggestions have been to look into mounting the new monitor similarly to a TV wall mount. I'm really not interested in doing that because (1) my desk setup is at the corner of the room as you can tell by the picture, (2) if I ever DO decide to my the desk, then I don't want to have to deal with the hassle of the mount, and (3) I'd like to have the new monitor "tilt" down.

I'm basically interested in building a command center lol.

So... anyone have any ideas / suggestions on how I can go about doing this? Anyone know of any good places to look at "gear" to accommodate my proposed setup? At this point, I'm interested in any mounts, stands, hangers, or what have you.

Not sure if they'll have exactly what you want or are looking for but I bought the mount below and it is solid.

Thank you Justin for the links. Please... if you have any other suggestions / recommendations, please let me know.

That goes for anyone else out there too. I'm really at a loss for ideas on where / how to look, yet I know exactly in my head what I'm interested in doing.

Perhaps try calling a metal fabricator in your area if you can't find exactly what you are looking for online.

If you've got that empty space behind the 30", you could just build yourself a box/stand to set the 24" monitor on...granted, it wouldn't be pointing/angling down, but it wouldn't cost much and it would be hidden by that monster 30" monitor.

*edit - i just saw justin's link with that standing tilting desk mount - that's the winner right there as long as it gives enough clearnace to get over top of your 30". If it doesn't then you could build your desk up a little with some wood and brackets/braces...again, hidden by that big monitor.

I think Justin's link is the perfect IDEA, but I'm not sure it will work because I'm not sure it will raise the new monitor high enough above the current setup. Thoughts?

The arm that I listed won't lift it above the 30" monitor, but pinstriper is right. You could build some sort of platform and attach it to the desk and then attach that arm to it. The new platform would be hidden behind the 30" monitor so it wouldn't need to look pretty.
