And just to be clear. We never delete posts. We unapprove them so we can have other mods review and it's easier to fix a mistake such as re-approving them.

I think you're under this perception that the Mods are devious assholes who just do what they want without discussion over what happens. That couldn't be farther from the truth.

To clarify because I don't think everyone fully understands it), when we say we "unapprove" a post, what it does is leaves the post in its place, but only mods can see it (so it appears deleted to a regular user). As Fly said, then it can still be seen by mods, and if a mod got overzealous in unapproving one click of the mouse can put the post right back. Nothing other than maybe spammers? are flat out hard deleted from here.

If something is unapproved and stays that way, it's because we all agree it was horseshit.


Also, it by no means you did anything wrong. I know when I unapprove a post, I also unapprove the responses. If we only take away an offending post and leave all of the reactions, the thread is a bitch to read, because all the responders just look like they're talking to themselves about nothing. To make the thread easily readable, those posts will be taken off to the side too. It just makes sense to do it that way (though many of you tend to freak out the second you get that unapproved PM).
