Had a good version of Blue Moon a few days ago. Spicy amber ale or something like that. Was part of a sampler pack. Had a nice cinnamon flavor.

Walked almost a mile and a half to a Breckenridge brew pub, after already walking 2 miles before deciding wear to eat, and it was closed for renovations. I passed a Great Divide brew pub, as well. I don't really remember having any of their beers in the past, is it a worthwhile brewery?

They have a ton of shit I'd like to drink including a Yeti Stout Ive heard is great and a Chocolate Yeti thats spose to be delicious as well.

Oak Aged Yeti Imperial Stout is amazing, Chocolate Yeti is good too. Most of the beers from Great Divide I've had were good.

Just had a Rogue Chocolate Stout. Pretty damn good. Had a taste of the Rogue Irish Lager, thought it was pretty terrible actually. Glad I didn't buy it, doubt I would have finished it.

Basically the Hops act as a source of natural sugars for the yeast to ferment into alcohol. More alcohol=better preservative. Most IPA's use more hops than other pale ales, and as you go up the scale (double, triple, imperial) the IPAs have more and more alcohol content, but also tend to get sweeter at the same time, as they need much more sugar sources to create the high ABV. Over the weekend I had some Stone Oaked Arrogant Bastard. Awesome.

Last night I tried Troegs Nugget Nectar (Awesome) and The Brew Kettle's Old 21 (Also Awesome). If you've had White Rajah you should check out Old 21 which is an Imperial IPA with a lot of the same flavors as White Rajah though its slightly different, plus it has a higher ABV.

Having the 8. On sale for 4.50 a bottle. awesome.

Just ran out of Nugget Nectar again. Got to fall back on the Hopslam as I have about 18 of them left. White Rajah was hard to find here, so I'm not sure if I can even find the Old 21. I'm off tomorrow and Thursday so might have look for it. Anyone know where it is in the Cincy area ???

Curly..when is the best time to go to jungle jims to get a bunch of these beers? Last time I went it seemed like all the good beers were gone, and not a lot of options remained. Any specific time in the month?

I don't think there is a special time of the month it all depends on when they receive it. I guess some luck is involved, plus I go there about every weekend since I'm just about 2 miles away. The Wife visits about every Wednesday and 'bats her eyes' at the Beer/Wine reps and usually gets nice info on upcomming dates and beers. That's how we find out when a special beer is expected...lol

Maybe get to know the people that work in the Beer/Wine Department. If they are not busy they like to talk beer. I know some of them might not even know my name, but they know my face as I usually ask them a question on a specific beer that I'm thinking about trying. They know when something special is there that might not be on the shelves. Sometimes I overlook something, like I did the White Rajah, and they brought it up and we sampled it. Then I went back and bought it. I have to say though it's never a good idea to ask for samples. I NEVER have. (Just makes you look cheap)

The Founders KBS is there, but not on the shelf. You'll have to ask a Beer/Wine rep for it and they are usually at the Coffee counter. Ed, the Dept Manager, can be funny at times. I mean he'll get a great beer in then put it on the shelf right away and it's gone quick. Then other times he'll keep it back for real snobs. In other words unpredictable.

Damn, I was just telling The Wife my post and she said if you ever want to meet up at The Jungle on a Wednesday or a Weekend let us know and we'll escort you...and that goes for any of you Snobs in the Cincy area.

Really want to try this. I saw a 6er of this recently at a store near me with the nearest tag saying $11.99. (All the other stone's were same price, what the hell do I know?) Take it to the counter to purchase.....$23. Back on the shelf.

That seems extremely overpriced. I'll have to check what it's priced here. It used to be a seasonal, but went year round a few years ago.

I like ageing it as the oak settles down and the flavor develops. Its nice to try it a side by side, vertical tasting. Of course I love vertical tastings.

Yeah please do, as of now that's the only place I have seen it, so I have nothing to compare it to. I've never done a vertical tasting, but I would def like to try one.

Kroger in Hyde Park carries White Rajah and Old 21. They are on the wall by the liquor. They are frequently out f White Rajah and I bought the last 4 pack of Old 21 on Monday.

Just gotta get lucky then.
